Project: Size Matters

This project started out as a bunch of cardboard and an ambition to create as small of a case as possible. Never thought it would get this far, but cardboard sucks as a building material (no surprises there). After wanting to do a build of my own ever since I joined up here, this presented the perfect oppurtunity for a start.

Its called blackbox because of the devices in planes which are a little black box that records data of what happened on the plane's journey. Its small and black and thats the theme of this project.

the mockup is demonstrating how the power button looks, itll probably be mounted on the top in the final build

Nice concept so far. Just one thing, the so called "Black Box" which is in a plane is actually a bright yellow colour so it can be seen through the wreckage ;).

rofl, guess I had better do some research next time before just throwing in a name.

Going to a mates house to get everything cut up and drilled as hes got a band saw and drill press I can use. Besides going very slow is there any other tips anyone would have for a first time plexi worker?

Well depends. If you want glossy edges use wet and dry sand paper and then buff it. If you wan edges that will reflect a ton of light and glow brightly rough it up with normal sand paper. Oh and never take off the protective film until you are ready to put it all together. No matter how careful you are it will scratch.

theres not much to see, but everything is cut, need to make measurements for drilling now

peeling away the backing on my spare piece i found out this is actually dark tinted plexi, so Ill have an 80mm led fan in there to light things up when it gets turned on
