I recently lucked into an old trestle-style dining room table with a maple buther-block top. Having no use for it in the dining room (or kitchen as we like to call it here), and having needed a good router table for some time, I wasted no time in tearing it apart, stripping the finish off of the top, cutting down the trestle legs and making it into a HUGE and very sturdy router table. Several years ago, I was also fortunate enough to come across a steel 1970's era steel office desk that weighs roughly as much as a Mini Cooper. I have bolted my new table to this desk, and, while it is basically unmovable, I need not worry about it vibrating at all. :) While I'll admit the need for a 4-foot long, 3-foot wide, 2-inch thick maple router table is questionable, isn't that why we're all here? What does need have to do with it?

My apologies for the broken links, the photos vanished from Photobucket, no explanation. They were also the only copies in existence. I'll try to get around to taking more and posting them on this thread. Anyone who would like to see the table can see it in my ongoing scratchbuild, Project Onyx.
