Well Spoilers if you haven't read the book.

I just went and saw the movie "The Mist" finally. It is based on the Stephen King novel. That is on scary and gory film. If you don't like spiders do not under any circumstances go and see it.

The start unsettled me as I had this feeling the whole time a tentacle might come out from under my seat and grab me.

It was funny when the store clerk shot the preaching woman everyone in the whole cinema clapped.

The end though is so messed up. Like you think they would sit in the car untill the they ran out of food and then killed themselves. Or they would have made a break for it on foot. 30 Seconds more and the military would have saved them. blah.

The end was my favorite with the army guys in NBC suits hosing the spiders down with flame throwers.

Also what about the giant monster at the end. That thing was HUGE!! You would need like some seriously heavy ordnance to take that thing out.

Edit: After reading wikipedia the women who no one will escort to go and see her kids at the start is alive sitting on the back of one of the army trucks.

So what caused the mist? What was that all about?

Spiders huh? Weird, from the trailers I was thinking something more super natural.

What was the big monster? The mother? Godzilla? Another spider but in giant form? or something indescribable like the Cloverfield Monster?

The mist came through a extra dimensonal portal with the monsters. The army was exprimenting with them but it ripped open.

Well they are based off spiders.

The big monster was just one of many monsters. And this thing could like squash the Cloverfield Monster it was like taller then a skyscraper.

Apprently the novel that this was based of served as inspiration for Half Life.

If I remember the book correctly, the 'mist' is a product of a military test gone horribly wrong. The book itself has been identified by Stephen King as a precursor to the Dark Tower series. These same creatures are seen briefly in the third book of the series (The Wastelands) near the beginning of the group of protagonists train ride out of the city of Lud.

If you haven't read the Dark Tower series of books, do yourself a favor and read em. They are best described as a cross between the spaghetti westerns of the 1970s and Tolkien with a small dash of sci-fi thrown in.
