Last year we had a huge ice storm where I live, torn down LOTS of trees, hundreds, and damaged thousands. We had over ten thousand people without power, we were without for a week. That being said, we just had another one this year, and there is more ice on everything this time around. If it hadn't been for last year's storm taking down all the weaker trees and limbs it woud have been worse this time. Anyway, thought I'd post some pics I took in my yard because... well, because as crappy as it all it, it looks freakin' cool!

Tiny limb hanging from a large tree...

Sunlight shows the ice nicely.

The next three are grass. Yes, grass. :)

This is the fence on the southern border of our property. Love the way you can see the barbs inside the ice.

This is a sad one, this is a willow tree by our pond, normally stands about twenty feet tall. It survived last year's storm, crossing my fingers this time around.

Twenty-foot pine tree weighed down with God only knows how may pounds of ice. Ugh!

Nice pics man. Ice storms are definitely incredible. We've been fighting some of the same here in Ohio, though not as bad. +rep for the cool pics.

we had an ice storm here....i think before christmas... knocked out our power and everything.... my room mate sat up all night in front of the window just waiting to watch the tree outside in our courtyard snap.... which ended up falling and covering our stairs

Yeah, what exactly is an ice storm?

When it is higher temperature up in the clouds so it rains, but it is really cold on the ground so it will freeze on contact with the ground.

Am I right?

You are absolutely right, and they SUCK. We usually get at least one a year but these last two have been really bad. Hoping we've seen the last until next year. :D

I've never been in one. Crazy stuff, driving must be impossible.

Yeah, I put my truck in a ditch backward with this one. Pretty steep incline, about seven feet deep. If it hadn't been so slick I'd have rolled into it instead of sliding. That got my heart beating. :) Sat there for 2 days before I could get it out, should have had a picture of it with 2 inches of ice all over it. Pretty sad.

that's crazy. If I thought I could make it, I would be in the nearest open parking lot all day "drifting" (lol). That would be tons of fun.

That reminds me of back in the day when my best friend and I "borrowed" his moms V6 Dodge Caravan to do some "drifting" in our schools parking lot.

Hand Break + Fast Minivan + Large open iced over areas = Being "grounded for life" for having loads of fun.

I think it looked kinda pretty. I'm sure its not "pretty" when you have to deal with it though. We had some rain a couple weeks back that just iced the streets over. I'd never seen anything like that before and i was really fascinated/shocked. I've seen plenty of snow, but i've never woken up to a sheet of ice covering the road. At least not that i remember. Fortunately school was closed that day.
