Hey, I thinking about building this system and I wanted to know what people thought of the specs. It will be used for gaming, and other misc. tasks.

ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813131011)

EVGA GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814130319)

Rosewill 750W Power Supply (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817182067)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Black Edition Processor (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16819103194)

G.SKILL 2GB RAM (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820231098)

ASUS Arctic Square 92mm Vapo Bearing CPU Cooler (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16835101010)

And the case that I have bought is the Thermaltake Shark.

So, how do you think this system will perform? Anything you reccommend switching out? Thanks for the help!

RAM is a good choice.

PSU... I'm not sure, I haven't read anything on Rosewill before. I'd personally recommend:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256016

HSF, It's ok, but I'd recommend this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835154001

CPU, since you're spending cash on a HSF, I'd recommend this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103242 (Slightly higher speced CPU with no cooler)

Motherboard looks ok.

GPU looks good.

EDIT:
Total cost: $789.45

If you need a DVD Burner and HDD, just let me know.

do not get that mobo it wont support the multiple power lanes supported on phenoms and the 790fx chipsets a really solid chipset
i own a amd brisbane 3600 and the msi k9a2 790fx mobo and it was worth every penny

supports 8 gigs of ram and quadfire and is really cheap

Only problem with that mobo is I wont be able to use an nvidia card. Which is what I really want.

Maybe this one?

i have a nvidia 7600gt plugged into mine you can totally have an nvidia card plugged into a amd/ati chipset

what you cannot do is put nvidia cards in sli on that board

im saying dont get a 500 series chipset

Ah, good to know! lol

So, that mobo above is good for the money?

And is 1066 ram that much better?

You can use a NVidia card on a crossfire motherboard, however you can't do SLI at a later date.

That motherboard will work, but I'm sure sure on the compatibility with the HSF I recommended. Neither of the motherboards have compatibility with the phenoms I believe. But it doesn't matter if you're not looking at quad core for the future.

If you're not planning to do SLI or crossfire but want to be able to upgrade to a phenom:

EDIT: For the CPU you're buying, DDR2-1066 won't provide much difference. DDR2-800 will work fine.

stick with the black edition btw, it has an unlocked multiplier which means increased oc capability

do not get a rosewell, get a good brand like OCZ.
and you are spending WAY to much money on that board, you can get a newer chip for less then half what your paying for that, get this http://www.clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=CA4830729 instead.

Hmm, im worried about how the 8800 GT will fit around the copper piping on this board: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16813130136

EDIT: I am thinking of going with this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817814015

Seconded. I only use Rosewill on my test station. OCZ is good, as is Coolermaster. YMMV though.

the only thing rosewill makes good is some of their cases, and they are still super cheap, they are good mod bases though.

Hmm, thanks, good to know.

So, what would be the best setup for around $800?

Zero767

cool, and you if you want to raise the price a little more you can get 4GB of that same RAM, and get the AMD black edition.
