Wtf, I'm confused now about what to choose.

I got a Intel E6750 a couple of months ago cuz I thought it was like a sweet spot dual core for the price. After that, I was thinking about purchasing a EVGA 680i board but I've been hearing horror stories about it. And now, they've released the new Penryn chips that require new mobos. Does anyone know what mobo will support my current chip and is 'perfect'? As a bonus, does anyone know of a mobo that might let me upgrade to the new chips and still let me keep my chip and has given no headaches to anyone?

The P35 and X38 chipsets support the 45nm CPUs.

the evga 680i board will support that chip as its 65nm. i would only get the board if you plan on sli. my next board will be the Gigabyte X48T-D6Q since i want ddr3 and a good oc'er.

Yea, but I've heard issues with the evga 680i board like it tends to blow up on stock runs and stuff and their support being the slowest in the world. Maybe I might just as well go along with the board.

any reason it has to be the EVGA board? there is plenty of other 680i board makers and it might be worth purchasing a 7xxi series board instead now.

EVGA sounds cool lol. Aren't the 7s expensive? if its under 300 bux and anyone has pros about it i might be interested. Does anyone know any good mobo veders though cuz i don't wanna waste my money.

I have an EVGA 680i board. Nothing blew up. Support is great. I have my E6600 at 3.375GHz with a 1500FSB. EVGA owns :up:.

If I were buying a new motherboard right now, I'd go for a 780i if you want to SLI. Otherwise, P35. Good mobo manufacturers: EVGA, Gigabyte, Asus, Abit, MSI. Maybe XFX if you're going for a 680i or 780i (I'm actually running the XFX BIOS on my EVGA 680i).

go with the Evga 780i I bought it and the board has not let me down. got a Q6600 from stock 2.4 up to 3.0 on air with the core running 38c on full load. I recomend it 100%
