no, wireless N is faster than 10/100 ethernet but the pings are still higher,

But Wirless N is not faster than 10/100/1000 ethernet.

to lower your ping witho0ut breaking the bank, get two NIC cards, and set them up in teaming.

if your mobo is a nvidia chipset with dual ethernet this should be a option in the nivdia control panel.

for your own cards im not sure, i have done it on server 2003 but not on anything else.

But i am faily sure both cards have to be the same make and model to work 100%

no, i was trying to have it wireless because i am a ways away from the modem, and i can't really have a cable going that far.

Then pay top dollar for a wireless N card that is the same brand as your router. To get the lowest ping cabling with cat6 is the best you can possible do.

what color are the walls? while they are out, mod the walls. before they get back, try and put some hard paper that is the same color as your walls over the part you modded. Be a ninja! lol 8)

I run cables for a living and sometimes it can be tricky others easy but it almost always can be run without being seen much.
What floor are you on and what floor is the router on? Are you on opposite ends of the house? can you run it through the attic and down a wall or through a basement with unfinished ceilings then back up into your room? The last possibility is running it out the wall and around the house tucking it under the siding or stapled to the underside of the roof overhang. Look around at homes that have been around a while and you will see that phone cables have been run this way after the house was built because the owner wanted a new line but didn't want to tear up the drywall in order to hide the wire inside the walls.

Hope this helps, and if you have any questions just ask.
