I want to set a server up on my PC but I couldn't figure out what to do to make it visible over the internet. Is there another IP address to use besides the regular IP I have? (Not my LAN one...)

You need to tell your router that when someone points their computer to your IP, it goes to your computer on the port that Teamspeak uses. Port forwarding. It basically says that all requests made to your IP on that port will go to a specific PC on your LAN. There are complications, like dynamic IPs that you can run into, but I think that's what you want to do.

He said you have to tell your router that ;)

Exactly. Go to your router, tell it to do that, and if it doesn't call it a Nancy and slowly drip water on it until it does.

 Don't actually do that.

Go to your router settings in your browser. In the URL bar, type 192.168.1.1. That is usually your default gateway. Otherwise, you'll have to look at your connection in Windows. There you should find something about port forwarding. Also, if it asks for a username and pass, leave them blank (unless you know you have a username and pass).

Dunno what the username and pass are... this is my grandpa's house I'm at. I'll figure it out later.

Oops, my mistake. Don't leave them blank, just leave the username blank and type "admin" (no quotes) for the pass. That ought to work.

Edit: Oh no, 3000th post. I guess that makes me an official forum whore, right?

Found out where to do it all but what do I enter? If a screenshot is needed I'll provide one. Thanks.

You found the Port Forwarding part? What you need to do is found out what port Teamspeak operates on. Screenshot would be good too. What router are you using?

Screenshot. Here, I'm forwarding port 3389 (default port for remote desktop) to 192.168.250.100, and 5190 (default port for PCAnywhere) to 192.168.250.97. Make sure the computer you're using has a static address on your LAN. Then, what you'll do is find out what your WAN IP address is (www.whatismyip.com), and tell your friends to connect to your WAN IP on TCP/IP port: 8765 and UDP Port: 8766 (you'll want to setup port forwarding for TCP and UDP).

I'm using a Linksys wireless router... here's a screenshot and it's still giving me crap. Also, what port do I put in for the Connect>Server Address thing? The UDP, TCP, or what?

You're close. Under the drop down menu where it says "Both", change 8765 to TCP/IP and 8766 to UDP.

The only problem I see with this is your WAN IP could change over time...

It's still giving me crap... funny how something simple for everyone else becomes hard as hell for me, lol. Ahh whatever.

Well, what exactly is happening?

It just tells me it can't connect to the server... or do I have to try this on two computers? lol

EDIT: As in... I'm trying to run the server and the client on one PC, lol...

I think I still have Teamspeak installed on my computer, but since I can't be arsed right now to try it, it'll give it a shot tomorrow and see what I can do.

This may sound like a dumb question, but do you have Teamspeak Server installed?

Of course, lol.
