Just wondering how I could dim a CCFL. I have a Fan controll er with four knobs, and one knob seems to do absolutely nothing besides make the little LEDs flash or turn off. It says in the manual that I could use it to dim a CCFL or turn it to sound activated mode. I'm guessing I put the cathode in between the molex to the fan controller?

Is this going to hurt my Cathode?

What will probably happen is if your supply voltage drops below the minimum required by the ballast for the CCFL the light will go out. Usually you only ruin things when your current is too high or tries to flow backwards.

Just make sure your power draw of the CCFL isn't more then the controller puts out. It may/may not work but if it does, I would be weary of it.

I tried it, and it seems to work fine. I found that if you dim it, it only lights up to a certain point in the CCFL, and doesn't dim evenly.
