I'm actually quite excited by this, could be exactly what I'm looking for in a CPU for the robot I'm thinking of.

I have heard of these, they look interesting.

Not only that, but power consumption is dropping faster than the stock market.

Haha. I know!

How are they managing to do this? In this short of time.

The Intel Atom was apparently designed over 2 years. I'm hoping they're going to do it in a pico-ITX form factor, they already have it in a mini-itx.

yeah, that chip is certainly small enough for a pico itx solution. thatd be awesome to have a cheaper version of via's pico solution

which is kinda ironic since i just bought a 700W PSU:eek:

Look at it this way--what kind of gear do you think our military is using? I'm pretty sure that some of their cutting edge equipment makes the stuff available to the general public look like child's play.

Intel is kicking AMD's butt! oh well. This is still really cool, I may have to plan a 5.25inch PC build if these are powerful enough. Maybe one that hosts a hard drive backup system.

Aliens.

Seriously. These are like the pyramids of giza of our time. Instead of much much bigger than anything, much much smaller than anything.

You'll probably see this in ECX(106mm x 145mm) format, there are already mobile Core 2 Duo boards in that size using i945 chipsets. I imagine these will also make it onto PC/104 CPU modules which are even smaller, but a bit larger than PicoITX. The embedded market is going to gobble these up.

They don't have this in Mexico either:think:

soon enough we will be at the stage where the cpu will be smaller than the northbridge!

1.6 Ghz is downright respectable.

I'd roll with that.

I am seeing a carputer in my future.

Apparently there will be dual core versions later as well!
