View Full Version : Snow storm from hell
So, I've been at work for about 26 hours now. I stayed here today instead of going home because I couldn't see the road through the snow. We have about 2 feet of snow on the ground now, and it's stll coming down. It's supposed to start drifting tonight. This is why they pay me to sit and be bored most of the time. Nights like tonight, I actually earn my pay.

Snowy weather is fine. As long it does not effect you badly. Like if you dont get to work or the power strikes.
I would not mind a big blizzard if you stayed at a cabin with some friends doh. Snowing in.
( But if we ran out of beer, I think we might start killing each other )

I'm sorry to hear about the bad luck with weather guys.. I'm writing this from my deck, while I barbecue in shorts, with beer.
Not *too* warm here, but still around 12'C right now... and I live in Alberta, Canada. :D

Well, that's the thing. 2 feet of snow.. AND I work for the power company covering 3 states. Double whammy. Last night was total hell here. I had to sleep here at work because going home was not an option. The roads were just that bad. I don't think I got off the phone for more than 15 minutes at a time. I did get to go home this morning and sleep though. Back in for another 12 hours tonight, and then I have 2 days off. I would be lying if I said I didn't love this stuff though.

I was watching a weather report showing the snow out east. Doesn't look like fun. The snow looks wet and very heavy. At least out west when we get big dumps like that it's dry and fluffy (usually). Good luck.
At work this past week, we had a new guy start with our group. He just came up from Ohio and was in shock from our cold weather (4 days ago it was still -30'C). He was telling me how cold fronts are called "Alberta clippers". Sounds like this thread should be called "snow storm from Alberta".

I barbecued today also (shorts, t-shirt and beer) +7'C (I'm also in northern Alberta). First few days above 0'C for about 5 months (last 3 months were about -30'C or colder). First I had to dig the barbecue out of the snow.
Luke122, it's funny how today felt so warm, and yet in October that same temperature will feel like -20, eh?

Us here in Michigan just got the edge of it luckily. Even just being on the edge though, it was/is still annoying.
Good luck with the whole job situation by the way...

And here in my part of Montana (just south of the Albertans)...it's dry. Worrisome dry. Looks to be yet another crappy year here fire wise. Oddly enough though, the other side of the Continental divide has received roughly 200% snowpack for the season.

Definitely.. I did a smoked ham yesterday.. barbecue was going for 4 hours.. whole neighborhood was drooling. :D
Pretty much everyone on my block was out working on their yards yesterday, so I went around and gave out samples of the ham for some people too.. was good times. :)
+10'C already here today (930am), and almost all the snow is gone. So much for Canada being an Arctic Wasteland hey? ;)

We still have lots of snow (about 2 feet). We went down to the river yesterday, you would think it was summer. Tons of people had lawn chairs out, people were sitting by the beach. Only thing is, instead of boats/jetskis in the river, everybody had their quads and snowmobiles out. I wish I had taken my camera.
