Well as we all remember this thread http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13164
about Fuganater losing his job with dell. Guess what?? Turns out dell is doing so bad now that my call center I worked in is shutting down April 1st. After that I will no longer be a member of the tech support there as all of it is going to be going off shore. This really urks alot of us there as we were there from the beginning. There are about 100 of us that are going. They have already been cutting costs some so we knew it was a matter of time. So right now any mods I had going and the plans for the the server build are now on hold. So in the least I know how you feel on this one man. Well kinda....least they gave me a 3 week warning. Blessed be guys...

Dude, that sucks ass! I'm really sorry to hear about that news, seems like people all across this nation are finding work difficult to find.

Our "new" dell rep came by for a meeting yesterday (we are now a partner since we were a major partner of the storage company they just bought), and this exact topic came up. We expressed our concern about dealing with over seas call centers as there is always a problem. We basically told them that if we encounter any issues with them moving their call centers offshore, we are switching vendors (we buy almost $250k of precision 690's per quarter). It's funny that Dell is making this move since many other vendors are pulling their call centers back to the US because of problems including stolen customer data, lost service calls and downright rudeness. Hopefully in the long run they will see the error of their ways...

That's really terrible luck man, keep the faith though, things will work out. :D

A call centre in Edmonton Alberta (for Dell) was closed about 2 months ago. Same thing.. 900 employees laid off, almost no notice. Since then I've stopped dealing with Dell, except on warranty for existing products.

I have to admit that I'm more and more impressed with HP lately..

Yeah i knew about Edmonton being closed. There was also one in Mississippi that also got closed and then finally mine was also closed. Also as for you airbozo all support for gold contracts, precision, poweredge, and latitude will all be kept state side in Tennessee. Everything else is going off coast to god knows where. So you wont have much to worry about. For instance some of tech support is located in India. The reason why it is located there is due to exchange rate. I believe they get paid 100 to 200 American dollars a month. When this is exchanged into Rupees it is an ungodly amount. A 7 course lobster dinner for 4 costs on average 5-7 american dollars. So 1 American dolllar = 40.3 Rupees. Now you see why they are doing it. But a ray of good news guys April 7th I start training to work as a tech for T mobile. So I got another job already and a week paid vacation so everything is going to be fine. I found out this so I am not to worried I just wanted to let everyone know what a sh!ty company they have become. Appreciate everyones support. Blessed be....

I just started at a Honda dealership that a cousin works at last week. They seem to not be selling too well so I hope I get to keep my job for a while.

And by the way, there are reasons I build my own computers, lol. No old **** parts for me, thanks.

wow, and i thought i hated dell before, they cant even make solid computers and now they are shifting what poor support they had overseas? wow... i hate dell.... hell, **** all the computer companies, atleast for those of us who build them ourself we dont have to worry about their crappy software and tech support, we get real tech support (if you have EVGA that is :P)

Yikes, thats terrible.

I was already starting to switch over to HP, but Dell has been pretty good to me in the past so I was hesitant... not any more. HP is my new company as far as I'm concerned. They've been doing pretty much everything right lately and that deserves at least my recommendation to people who ask, as well as any future business I may have with a pc company.

If this is how they do business, by screwing their employees, then F them.

I can't even figure out what they are thinking. What a **** move. I mean really, once tech support goes, which it usually does when you do what they are doing, then you start getting bad rep. Once that happens, its only a matter of time before word gets out and people start to stray away. Its not like Dell is the only company to offer great deals.
