got myself a JL CP110GW1v2 sub for 200 at a place called G&G electronics.

all i need is an amp and deck, any idea's?

can i use the stock deck with the amp, i don't wanna have to change it. it's a double the size of a reg after market deck.

here is a picture of the sub :)

If you want to use your stock deck, there's two ways to do it. First is to get an amp with high level inputs. Just plug the speaker wire from the deck into the amp, then connect the amp and sub. Done.

Second, some factory decks have RCA outs.. depending on what you have, you might be in luck. Definitely better quality of output than high levels, but for a sub, you wont notice so much.

As for amps, JL does some good stuff, and it makes sense to match brands. Otherwise, MTX does some good sub amps.. aside from that, I havent looked at car audio at all for about 5 years... :P

What you COULD do is get a sub amp from www.partsexpress.com and hook that baby up to your PC or home theatre. Aww yeah son...

Like Luke122, I haven't been into car audio for many years. However, I used to be right into it (sound competions, etc.) If you are set on using the stock deck, you may want to consider using a line driver before the signal goes to the amp. The signal coming from cheaper/oem decks can be as little as 2V. By the time the signal gets to the amp, the signal can be degraded quite a bit. Using a line driver as close to the deck as possible, ensures 12V signal. I used to use this one. LINK (http://mobileaudiocontrol.com/product.asp?Product_Id=14163&d_Id=5249&l1=5249&l2#)

i was just wanting to reuse it to save money and i can use it without looking at it.

some questions
1. would i need to upgrade the stock battery?
2. the guy at the store said if i have the sub full powered it will drowned out the stock speakers. any truth to it?

I missed something when I read your first post. I thought the amp would be for all speakers including the sub. If you are only going to plug the sub into the amp, you shouldn't have to worry about signal degradation because you won't notice it in a sub anyway. But yes you could overpower the stock speakers if you don't amplify the signal going to them also.

As far as the battery, how big of an amp are we talking about? Again if you are only going to amp the sub, I wouldn't go too big anyway so you shouldn't have to worry about the battery (as long as the battery is in decent condition).

the speaker on jl's site says it's rated for 300watt so i would just get a 300watt RMS amp.
