It's not the best since it originally was in chinese..... but it seems like it's good!

The other pre-release benchmarks I saw put it right at 3870x2 performance levels which comes in at 200$ than the 9800GX2. They claimed it was early drivers and such, and new drivers should help.

That thing better be released with some nice drivers as the reviews will come pouring in and if people start looking at it like the 7Series GX2's with crap drivers they won't sell too well. But as its essentially two underclocked 8800GT's (atleast from what I have heard, will check up on this when it comes out officially) I don't expect it to do too much better than the 3870X2 ... :(

It is based on the G92, then again, so is the 9800GTX.

Those early 'pre-release' benches were someone underclocking a couple of 8800GTs in SLI to simulate a 9800GX2... or that was someone's story.

Not the old old ones your talking about. The fake benchmarks were done pre-January. I was talking about ones comparing to the 3870X2, which wasn't out then.

Then again they could be fake too, no way really to know for any of them.

Either way its still two underclocked/less shaders per gpu G92. But I guess its understandable because the G92 was originally going to be released solely in the 9series but they seriously needed a mid/high end product to fill the gap. Guess its just my ocd going "ahhh no, don't reuse same chip for the new series".

Either way

3870X2 => 400$
9800GX2 => 600$

There isn't much difference in performance between them in the benchmarks. And I'm not sure that new "drivers" can make up for a 200$ gap. But speculation is just that, looks like we will have to wait a week or two =).

here's (http://lly316.blogspot.com/2008/03/nvidia-geforce-9800-gx2-benchmark.html) another review that looks (fairly) legit

and here (http://lly316.blogspot.com/2008/03/geforce-9800-gx2-vs-radeon-hd-3870-x2.html) is the same review as the one crenn posted but slightly ?better? translation.

release date is March 18th (acording to some sites (http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/03/05/nvidia_geforce_9800_gx2_caught_on_camera/1))

edit: it could also be march 25th... or maby that's some other card.. maby the 9800 gx2 is a wool over our eyes for some new card that can pull %200 over the 8800 ultra ^.^.. who knows :D:D

cant wait..

apperently the main thing of it's holding back on power is it's massive heat.. I wonder if given a decent cooling rig.. it might be verry nicely oc able (might make a nice mach for the Q6600 processor...)

I like TweakTown reviews, currently it seems the 3870x2 and the 9800gx2 is on par with each other, with some cases of the 3870x2 coming out ahead. However, it's still early stages. As they say, wait a few weeks before coming to a decision.

Some overclocking fun: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=180875

Also even better, if you have a high res monitor and vista, take a look at this:
