Audi R8 is based on the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car, unveiled three years ago. Confirming its ambitions, the R8 features a mid-mounted engine with a maximum power output of 420 bhp and peak torque of 430 Nm reached at 4,500 to 6,000 rpm and distributed between front and rear axles in 44 to 56 proportion.

The Audi R8 jumps from zero to 62 mph in just 4.6 seconds and reaches a maximum of 186.6 mph (301 km/h).

The Audi R8 is fitted with 5-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, but the car may also be ordered with more appealing 19-inch wheels. The rims are mated with 235/40 size tires at the front and up to 285/35 at rear.

Looks very good.
The side air intakes look too much like a mustang though.
The back does too but not as much.

Looks very nice. From a performance standpoint I'd say ehhh... as .2s less than the RS4 at +$40,000-60,000 more dollars. Then again I guess it probably handles better and whatnot. But as for me, its track or it gets driven like a camry (well most of the time), so I would have liked to see them suck a little more straight line out of it.

Otherwise beautiful car. I'll never have one, or anything like it. But eventually I can play it in some game or something. Ehh...

:D

Edit: For that price I would probably take a Tesla Roadster assuming they were available. 100% pure electric powerhouse baby! Edit: Although they would have to fix those tranny issues first.

I would probably take a lotus exige over that. It's smaller, cheaper, better gas mileage, faster 0-60, might even handle better. The only Thing I would be missing would be the extra 36 mph at the top end, but I wouldn't want to run with a supercar anyway.

That has awd, doesn't it?

Would probably do better in the snow, but I wouldn't be driving my racecar in the snow anyway, would I?

By the way,Lotus Exige. (http://www.lotuscars.com/exige_s240.html)

C'mon Top Gear! We need a Stig test drive! :bunny:

Its a nice looking car, looks like you can get more power/performance for less with other cars, but maybe it handles better than those other cars?

Not that it matters, like I could ever afford one. lol

By the way,Lotus Exige.

That is one fugly looking car... imo at least.

I saw this car on top gear, I even have it recorded on the DVR. It almost beat a british fighter jet in a mile drag race (the fighter jet had to go up a mile, then come back down). I don't remember the stig doing a drive, but he probably did.

the R8 isn't the best looking thing either.

oh yeaaaaaah...

I feel really stupid right now.

really.

And it was the drag race with hammond... the 911 won. My memory must have mixed those two cars together, they do sort of look a bit similiar.

Sorry for my misconception, top gear is an amazing show. That is all.

And soon USA will be getting "Gears"

I noticed on the veyron episode, they talked in empirical notation, miles per hour, feet, miles... aren't they in britain and doesn't britain use the far superior metric system? Have they become americanized? Have they SOLD OUT to inferior notation? Personally, even though I live in the USA, the metric system is better. The empirical system is just confusing and hard to work with.

I've noted that as well, Quakken, where they'll use both systems of measurement. Probably the producers told them to because they're now hugely international and lets face it, I'm more familiar, and I think other Americans are too, to the Imperial system.

Oh, and I wouldn't call catering to your audience "selling out". It's not like they're all product placing (save for some cars, but I doubt they're paid to do that).

Vehicle speeds are in mph, beer comes in pints (proper imperial pints, not those smaller American ones). Petrol comes in those foreign litre things. Note, that's litre, not liter.

Americanised? I think you'll find that Britain used imperial units before America had been discovered. We are still hanging on to them too, it's those bloody Europeans who invented the metric system and we're rather slow to adopt it.

even with me being only 21/2 i use imperial becuase thats the way my parents tought me,

Feet, Pound and Oz are all english, centemeter, Litre and grams are all forigen rubbish, i speek to a few mates and they will say something like:

It only weighs about 3 kilos, and i will reply with "Whats that in english, oh yea about 6.6Lb, thats real weight"

and yes, england has been using imperial since forever, england has always used imperial, we swapped our money for the europeans because they couldn't understand our finances, now they want us to switch again for them to the euro, i say NO.

And i like that car, it costs ****loads because of the engernearing and design plans cost a fortune, they need to recope some of there losses.

Oh okay. I watched some earlier episodes and they had everything in metric, or maybe I'm just confused. I always thought all of europe used metric.

Learn something new everyday, I suppose.
