I've been reading around the web, and they seem to be about 35-40, no load.

Currently, mine stands at 51c. This is without load. This is a little worrysum, as it's even hotter then my C2D which is at 40c.

Should I be worried, and if so, what can I do to cool it down?

You have to remember that temps depend on the ambient temperature as well. I personally wouldn't worry at this stage.

Blah, I decided I'd take the case off and pull the card out. Whammo, there's enough dust to fill a abandoned building. Got out the air compresser, and blew out a metric ton. Running at 41c now.

-edit-
Now under load, It's causing artifacts @51c.

Mine came with dried thermal paste on it with a piece of wax paper over it and I could've made tea with it at the temps it was running... ****ing stupid. I put some AS Ceramique on there and it ran better. Chalk = worst thermal solution EVER.

yes i would for sure do what ryoken did and replace the stock TIM. and if you really want to improve cooling either get an old Pentium heatsink and mod it to fit the card. you can also lap the stock one.

Lap the stock one? English plox?

I have some old mobo's... Can I steal the north/south bridge cooler, or should I steal a CPU heatsink/Fan combo?

take which ever is biggest, then take off the old heatsink and drill some new mounting holes and your done.

if you don't want to do that then you can lap the old one. here (http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Guides/lapping/) is a guide .
