hey its me again with my accual case mod now im not one of you skilled billionares so this will be to the best of my ability and to a budget of cheap dollars :P

ok this is what i have to start with (ive taken all the old guts out and yes it is an old crt)

lots of pics, any way i dont have any CADs so ye um thinking of a cdrom coming out of were the buttons were fans on the top of the case and maybe a window at the back for easy access... mbtray of perspex u'll see

um need a colour scheme to idea is to look standard as possible from the outside and nearly every thing clear inside...

update1
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/thecdspot.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/thefront.jpg

when i cut this section out i realised that there was a big (5mm) gap underneath

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/thegap.jpg

i will putty this up later

now the plan was to have the cd rom flat on the bottom but the smart ppl at the ktx company thought lets but some ribs in to make it hard for munkeyboy lol not to hard lil friend called mah dremel knocked that one on the head

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000461.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000527.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000528.jpg

the i had to heat up a knife with a mini blowtorch and flaten off the left overs (to lazy to sand) (pic above) looks bad atm but paint and final touch ups will fix this im buying the system as i go.

i have done more of this but i was intending on posting the full worklog when i was done but cant wait ill post more tomorrow btw im 14

tomorrow im going to the tech lab at school in lunch and sanding the mb tray

:P try to get it up to speed asap... till then

ok it seems i had a bit more time than i thought

ook the fan idea....
the plans (plans....?)

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/planforthefan-2.jpg

i dont have a holesaw 80mm so i just just my dremel
this is the first section
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/roughcutout.jpg

then rounded it finished sanded drilled holes
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000539-1.jpg

the fan to go in the hole
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/thefan.jpg

the problem with using that fan

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/theproblem2-1.jpg

the 'clever' solution (i was inspired off this site)

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/thesoluiton3.jpg

cut dem bits off and vwala lol

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/theresult2.jpg

scince i did this step i manages to make the holes stuffed so i got to putty them up and drill them again.... till the next update (maybe tonight?)

Well we all have to start somewhere. I was about your age when I did my first mod, a clear window for my stock PC case...voiding the warranty of course ;). That was 2 years ago already, a lot happens in 2 years.

A great start and a great idea. What was the original size of the CRT your using?

I am interested to see how this turns out. +subscribe

DonT-FeaR
03-17-2008, 03:41 AM
yeah i have no clue 17 i think or 19 old n ****

um whats +subscribe mean?

im new although ive been looking around 4 ages

The boy 4rm oz
03-17-2008, 03:45 AM
It just means I have subscribed to your worklog. When someone makes a new post in your worklog my User CP (Control Panel) will notify me when I log in.

While on the topic +rep means someone has given you reputation points for your work. These accumulated and eventually you get more green squares to the right of your name.

DonT-FeaR
03-17-2008, 04:32 AM
thanx 4 the info

ok i have more time lol
(if time was money i would be rich atm)

ok i thought i would have to have a 'front' to my case so were the old screen was i thought i would but a piece of perspecs and the firt attempt from scrap perspecs looked bad here ill put them up

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/planforfront.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/thefinishedshape.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/thesanding.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/theroughlook.jpg

the i went down to the local bunnings and did some 'haggaling' for cheaper parts (the guy cut it a little and gave it to me 75% off)

unfortunately i didnt take any early pics but u can guess

i heated it up in the oven and bent it to shape(its got glad wrap over it to protect it for the photo it has better protection now [shifty eyes])

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000543.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000544.jpg

fo the back of it like i said i thought i would put a window in i still havent decided but heres the plan if i do

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000536-1.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000542.jpg

or

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000542.jpg

that is the same piece of prespecs it is just better protected now
i was thinking either 2 80mm fans or 1 120mm fan like this

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000599.jpg

The boy 4rm oz
03-17-2008, 05:12 AM
The 120mm fan will be quieter and probably create more air flow.

DonT-FeaR
03-17-2008, 05:40 AM
yeah thats what i thought if i do decide to make the window i will use 1 120mm fan

mb pics will come tomorrow promise

any name ideas!!!!!

The boy 4rm oz
03-17-2008, 06:38 AM
What about hot box?

cooldud02123
03-17-2008, 11:38 PM
The box with no name. It is so cool it dose not need a name.

Eclecticos
03-18-2008, 12:54 AM
LMAO. . HotBox. :D Will be interesting to see how this turns out.

DonT-FeaR
03-18-2008, 01:30 AM
yeah dont expect this to be an overnight project......

to get to this stage has take like 10 weeks lol just diong a bit here bit there

hot box??? meaning please

The boy 4rm oz
03-18-2008, 01:35 AM
Hot box was the first thing that came to my head lol. It has no meaning.

DonT-FeaR
03-18-2008, 02:58 AM
fair enough i will probably put the name on the case somewhere

as promised i will update again today

ok today i went into the tech room at school and did a little bit of work (teacher wanted his lunch)

on the mb tray now i may be working slow but im tring to get things right

ok so this is it before i went to school

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000597.jpg

this is it still with the glad wrap and tape on when i got back (forgot the cover would come off takeing my marks with it) (wraped in glad wrap then tape so the tap glue wouldnt stick on it)

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000600.jpg

without the s*** on it

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000603.jpg

its not perfectly square but its good for now

this is a rough layout but i realised the HDD cant go up the top

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000605.jpg

DonT-FeaR
03-18-2008, 03:30 AM
so i was think i could make it go under neath the mb tray therefore making enough room for the shizzle on top

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000608.jpg

the cd rom could go infront of this still thats the rough size of a HDD btw

to do this and make the cd rack fit under neath the mb i need to cut it off here ish (top line)

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000589.jpg

for the HDD to fit with a rack on it in that spot i have to cut it at the section where it changes sizes and sand it off

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000592.jpg

my main problem in the near future is to make the mb thingo as i call it (thin on the back everything plugs into)

useable through the right hand side of the picture or left hand side if you were the case

i was thinking a hole with a guard to the thingo supporting it and ye you get it

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000604.jpg

ideas for this problem are very welcome VERY welcome im a bit puzzled on this one...

oh i think the psu will go under at the back

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/theback.jpg

Eclecticos
03-18-2008, 03:45 AM
Cool Progress already that deserves a +Rep.
Consult the UrbanDictionary for the definition of hotbox. :D

The boy 4rm oz
03-18-2008, 03:51 AM
The thing that everything plugs into is called the I/O panel.
+rep for the good progress

DonT-FeaR
03-18-2008, 04:21 AM
wow rep ^^) pitty i share this account hey lol im dont-fear btw

planning the legs for it now

i/o pannel ill try membah that cheers

FuzzyPlushroom
03-18-2008, 02:23 PM
Looks good! Thought of doing this once but never got around to it...

Low Radiation ... you have to leave that, man, have to. :D

vastonecat
03-18-2008, 10:46 PM
Sweet! What are you planning for the front? A clear window or a flat screen?
+ rep and keep up the good work.

DonT-FeaR
03-19-2008, 01:26 AM
kk vastonecat im planning on a clear window i would put a screen but it would be small and cost to much

need to take photos and upload more updates later maybe

DonT-FeaR
03-19-2008, 02:06 AM
kk updates!!! lolz

i found that if i take out the back bit i will be able to fit 2 HDDs instead of only 1

this is the way i can do it

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/kljkjk.jpg

but without cutting the topp 'mb support' out. if it is to weak i can re-force it (cant spell btw)

this is whats going on the back to hide the HDDS

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000619.jpg

it is the back window i decided not to have the window because of a chain reaction i cant fit the psu in its original place so it will go here

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000536-1-1.jpg

then if i get some hdd racks from mah other case i can do this alot quicker and it will match

ill cut a section out of the back bit for the cords
these are the plans atm updatess this weekend

DonT-FeaR
03-19-2008, 02:07 AM
Ok, like I (he) mentioned before this is a shared account.

Anyway, I'm the other guy and I just wanna post my comments lol.

Ok so I think a LCD screen should be put in the front of it, you might be able to get one that is slightly damaged (small scratches) off of ebay or someone for cheap.

~ munkey_boy (the actual owner)

DonT-FeaR
03-19-2008, 02:09 AM
ye zac i cbf thats to hard lol it wont fit anyway :P (shot down)

we is school mates

DonT-FeaR
03-19-2008, 02:11 AM
(Original owner again)

Yes, but I remember a mod where a guy took all of the stuff off (stand, side bits etc.) so you might be able to do that.

~ munkey boy (the actual owner)

The boy 4rm oz
03-19-2008, 02:17 AM
Hmmm confusing lol. Yes it is possible to remove the frame off an LCD so you can mount it elsewhere. It has been done may times before and a few times in this forum. Do a thread search and you should be able to find something.

EDIT: I did the search for you.

Enjoy :).

DonT-FeaR
03-19-2008, 02:32 AM
yea guys it looks like i has lots of room but i dont it simply wont fit

heres another pic of what i ment for the HDDs

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000624.jpg

this is how much will stick out at the end

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000625.jpg

the parts for the back somehow go scratched so ill 'mist them'

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000623.jpg

my painting table

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000611.jpg

this is the rough very roung idea of mounting for the back

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/sdgdgssdg.jpg

i have to cut this on off above the line

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/fsdg.jpg

ye updates when i have some

DonT-FeaR
03-19-2008, 06:41 AM
ok this is gunna be mainly a text update

i still have to cut out the back ribs
cut out the bottem black bit
get two matching HDD racks from either the shop near my house (going tomorrow) or from an old case i have with very different mounts ill post pics of them later
putty up the gap underneath the front
putty up the top fan holes and redrill
cut the cd rom rack
work out the psu and the I/O pannel mounting
frost the 2 parts at the back and cut to size
drill the holes for everything
and more but ill try get these things done before i work out the other ones :P

this is how much room i have between the mb tray and the bottom of the case

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000632.jpg

the black thing is 2cm thick

i found if i mount a fan like so
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000635.jpg

even tho its curved it leaves no gap see

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000637.jpg

how good is that i think i will have maybe 3fans on either side havent worked out final plans yet :P

happy easter
happy modding
updates soon till then ....

03-19-2008, 11:12 PM
hmmm. and people say I have issues when I carry on conversations in the office with myself staring at the computer screen, but I think they classify it as an extreme case if you're posting comments to yourself.. Anyway, this is looking good.
Hey you know what would really set people off with this thing? Mount a LCD in the side of an empty computer tower. So your computer is in the monitor and the monitor is in the computer. Or could be the stress at work getting to me:D

The boy 4rm oz
03-19-2008, 11:28 PM
Haha that is a great idea. People would be like WTF??? a computer in a monitor and a monitor in a computer :? ;).

DonT-FeaR
03-20-2008, 06:00 AM
wow ur a genius ..... NOT nah i did think of that but i dont have ascreen im trying to get one

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000638.jpg

this is how much room i have underneath the mb with a real HDD
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000643.jpg

now i have 4 fans 1 for the top and three for where ever

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000639.jpg

okay updates!!!! god i love that word means i have or some1 else has worked hard to show the good ppl at tbcs what they can do

hardware specs atm i will update when i can get/afford (what ive got cables to)

1 10gig HDD
1 4cm heatsink if useable
2 sata data cables
1 4pin to sata power converter
1 screen plug converter
1 430w thermaltake psu
4 fans
1 pwr cable

(no pics atm u get the point anyway on tuesday i have the day off so im going down to RONTEK)

i decided to cut out the back bit of the case so i can fit 2 HDDs side by side

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000684.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000685.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000696.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000759.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000758.jpg

this is the plan for the back now to hide the HDDs
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000716.jpg

also decided to grind the mounts for the HDD and the cd rom

i came back from getting a drink and my old neighbour/friend was working at his machine (stays at our house) and he was workng on mah mounts so he did them for me im really lazy btw
i did cut them short so it was easier

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000667.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000670-1.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000675.jpg

they turned out really really nice

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000683.jpg

just a short little add on
my aunty used to work/own a computer shop and she has lots of old parts that some are still in their boxes and she gave me some things to clear a little bit more room this is what i got

3 cd rom audio cables i think
1 set of brand new speakers
1 web cam
2 heatsinks (old ones but are what im gunna use atm)
1 set of head phones
1 mic

i plan to either mod this stuff sell it to my mates or sell to shop or get store credit at RONTEK (kinda my sponser only shop thats given me free stuff)

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000658.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000657.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000652.jpg

this is the one i am going to use atm
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000651.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000649.jpg

remember the slide out HDD racks i told you about after close thought i can not use them but heres the pics anyway
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000646.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000644.jpg

i went to the hardware shop and bought some knead it which is like putty to do some jobs the gap on the bottom i decided it didnt matter if it was there or not but i knew it needed to be flat so i puttyed that up

and the fan on the top the screws were pulling through so u puttied them up to

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000674.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000689.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000691.jpg

let them dry took about 10-20 mins

then started sanding (rolls eyes)lots of hours later :P took about 2 hours i think

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000695.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000697.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000756.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000755.jpg

the cd rom didnt quite fit .so i had to cut a bit out (green line)

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000725.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000726.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1000727.jpg

after all that time i must of turned retarded because i went and bought velcro and contact because the contact i had was white not clear then i couldnt get the contact on with no bubles so mum did one side for me and will probably do the other side tomorrow

velcro is strong enough but i will but hdds on the floor not suspended and the cd rom velcro works as does the mb tray so all is well atm i only have 2 big jobs to go which are mounting the psu and building the I/O pannel suppoe\rt and a bunch of little jobs and all the home work i was ment to do throughout my holiday im not to bad a bit tired ill be fine buy tomorrow.

ok i have some jobs to do.....

some MAY get done this weekend but its my friends daughters cristianing.. cant spell remember this is what has to be done

mb tray:
contact the other side, drill the holes and tread them

mount psu (not big but hard i think)

mount I/O pannel (big job)

mount screen (easy but must be done last)

HDD hiders: make brackets (small job may get done this week)

velcro the HDDs to the bottom of the case(not at the top now)

raise the back of cd rom and mount(may take a bit)

build the front cd rom guard (may take a bit)

mount/buy switches (worked the ones i want out yesterday)

ad fans

then paint and lights and stuff

till then...

DonT-FeaR
05-22-2008, 01:19 AM
well i did plan to do some modding yesterday but this took up most of my day

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030188.jpg

on my soprano case

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030187.jpg

any way...

thought i might use this in a mod one day for a resivior

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030185.jpg

got these while in the states and thought i could use them for something got 7

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030186.jpg

the coin u see is a aussie 10cent or the size of a nickel

the momentary switches i got from the shop thanks to j-roc i know what im looking for in switches now im gunna order 2 that look the same but are single pole single throw dont look kool but ill be able to jazz them up and hide them well i hope....

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030189.jpg

DonT-FeaR
05-26-2008, 04:43 AM
ok i did some modding over the weekend heres what i have left to do

mb tray:
contact the other side(decided no to), drill the holes and tread them

mount psu (need it welded and then bolt on)

mount I/O pannel (big job)

mount screen (easy but must be done last)

HDD hiders: make brackets (done need to mount may work may not)

velcro the HDDs to the bottom of the case(not at the top now)

raise the back of cd rom and mount(may take a bit)

build the front cd rom guard (may take a bit)

mount switches (all bought need to mount)

ad fans

then paint and lights and stuff

so what did i do you ask?

bought the other buttons and got them wired up

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030200.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030202.jpg

i used one of my old old case buttons and cut the wires and fixed them to these switches

this part
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030203.jpg

i made this to hold them and turn out really bad ill make something else i tried another piece and broke it spirits down atm cuz that screwed up my plans for the buttons so now i dont know what im gunna do

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030208.jpg

went down to the shop bought this..
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030190.jpg

was ment to be for the front cd rom part but i didnt look at it good enough and it tapered and i looked at the high side thinking its just high enough....
used it for hdd brackets instead might not work tho

this is what i bought originaly for the Hdd hider brackets
a metre or right angle alumi..
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030191.jpg

found a better use for it.. cut into lengths and angled the sides for looks

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030192.jpg

what is it?
the psu brackets!!

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030198.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030197.jpg

then need to bend this at a right angle

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030196.jpg

thats done no more pics atm ned that welded and i need the HDD brackets mounted maybe this week just went back to school and its **** so might mod mod for a while...

floor 2 and going up...

finnal floor

the 2 hdds fit like this also but i think they will get to hot..
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030212.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030218.jpg

i made the brackets for the hdd hiders they are strong now, still have to drill and mount and stuff slowly but steadily....

mb tray:
contact the other side(decided not to), drill the holes and tread them

mount psu (need it welded and then bolt on)

mount I/O pannel (big job)

mount screen (easy but must be done last)

HDD hiders: need to mount

velcro the HDDs to the bottom of the case

raise the back of cd rom and mount

build the front cd rom guard

mount switches (all bought need to mount/ make the alumi pannel this weekends job.)

ad fans

then paint and lights and stuff

so much homework at the moment so i might not do any modding this weekend but ill try
ttyl till then...

The boy 4rm oz
06-05-2008, 06:46 AM
Nice progress, you can really see where it is going now.

1 Question though. Will you attach the Velcro directly to the HDDs to mount? If so I recommend you mount the HDDs to a scrap piece of plexi, this will make removal of the unit easier and if you remove the Velcro you won't have sticky HDDs ;). This will also raise the HDD up of the floor a bit giving it better airflow therefore better cooling.

DonT-FeaR

Told ya PC Case Gear were quick, if they have what you need in stock lol.

By the way, that grill thing on the Arctic Cooling fan is actually on the front of the far. That design allows the fan to draw in much more air allowing it to run quieter.

Nice start of the HDD racks.

The diamond bladed will still snap if you bend them while cutting, it happens. Getting the re-enforced cutting disks like proper angle grinder disks are a far better option IMO.

M4v3rick
06-27-2008, 07:58 AM
The diamond bladed will still snap if you bend them while cutting, it happens.
Thats true an those diamond discs are way more dangerous when they scatter because they create very sharp pieces which get stuck in your skin easily.
Working with them safety glasses are a must.

Nice project so far, can't wait to see everything come together.

The boy 4rm oz
06-27-2008, 08:03 AM

ok ok huge update

spend all day uploading photos

(hope they work)

first were i left you

this is where i ended up putting my ram cooler seeing as it didnt fit
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030330.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030329.jpg

ment to fit here

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030335.jpg

put both my heatsink and mb cable hit it so im fked atm

so i went to they shop and bought this...

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030336.jpg

spary primer
cable ties
cable tie mounts
2 sided tape
and nuts and blots

then i pulled apart my current computer and made a mess

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030342.jpg

then dad and i made this section took ages....
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030370.jpg
first we cut it from here

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030294-1.jpg

then bent it at a 90 degree angle and then cut out the spot and filed it

ended up with this

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030337.jpg

then i poprivited it and sprayed the primer (no pics)

DonT-FeaR
07-19-2008, 04:21 AM
here is a preview of what the case will look like once it is completed

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030344.jpg

if you look closely you can see how i joined the mb to the plexi tray then to the I/O pannel thingo (no close pics ill take them later)

next i primer and painted the HDD and cdrom cage things with some black i had left over

turned out pretty sweet

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030349.jpg
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030346.jpg
then i but the velcro and 2 sided tape on them

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030350.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030347.jpg

also primed the switch plate
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030351.jpg

DonT-FeaR
07-19-2008, 04:32 AM
next i decided to cut a hole in the back of the case for the 120mm fan that i plan to mount there

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030352.jpg

drilled the outline

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030354.jpg

with my

"prison shank" style hacksaw i started to cut

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030355.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030356.jpg

then filed it roughly

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030359.jpg

NEXT i decided to change the fan on the top to an output fan not an intake so i thought why not replace the fan altogether

one of the cheap 80mm led fans i bought

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030362.jpg

with the edges cut so it fits

test it still works

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030365.jpg

test it fits

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030368.jpg

then wire a molex on to it

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030369.jpg

THEN

does everyone remember the back HDD hider idea

anyway

the lay out

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030372.jpg

(rotate 90 degrees and then add to moditor looking away from it)

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030373.jpg

so i drilled the holes and daaa - daaaa
(cut bolts to)

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030377.jpg

not fully mounted yet but close

so i cut the holes in it for the cord for the mb cables and all the rest

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030380.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030381.jpg

(only rough)

more pics of the mb tray in place

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030382.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj176/dont-fear/P1030383.jpg

Nice idea with the headphone speaker. Nice new scroll saw mate. That attachment is called a flex shaft. You get them for Dremels. You attach the end to the chuck and you end up with a pen sized tool for detail work rather than a heavy ass Dremel.

P.S I like the fan blades attached to your Dremel lol ^

DonT-FeaR

i know its called a flexi shaft but i had a mental blank :P

Yeah the ROG is the series of laptop. ASUS now put ROG (republic of gamers) on all their enthusiast products (motherboards etc.).

BTW 1680 x 1050 is the max res for your monitor. If you want anything higher you will have to force it using the Nvidia control panel or a utility like PowerStrip for example. That's why I want a 24" monitor, slightly better resolution, especially for graphic design.

Hey guys, just a quick note, Jeff (yes, thats his name) will be unavailable for a few days, hes had ongoing headaches for quite some time now, and hes seeing a few doctors about it in the next few days, so that means no time on the computer :(
