Here is an excellent video that shows the steps involved in working with Carbon fiber. He demonstrates how to make rigid flat panels. Semi flexible sheets, wrap a non-flat object with carbon fiber, and how to build a mold for a vacume style.

At some point or another I would like to get around to making carbon fiber panels.
I have the supplies I need for my fiberglass project, I just need to put them to use.

I used 'carbon-fibre' vinyl film from MaxPlus! and having worked with the real stuff, it's a dead ringer. It has a thin layer of aluminum in it. This isn't the cheap junk you might find in your local Wallyworld store. Not for curved surfaces however. There's a review of the stuff at: http://www.mikhailtech.com/Reviews/MaxPlus/Vinyl_Film_and_Aluminum_Mesh/page1 (http://http://www.mikhailtech.com/Reviews/MaxPlus/Vinyl_Film_and_Aluminum_Mesh/page1)
