I am currently working on a project, but the idea I have been musing is basically re-vitalizing a Cray 2 system as a beowulf cluster supercomputer.
I love the aesthics of the Cray 2 system, the design beauty and style are lacking in a rack mount.
The basic idea is to create a large mod that is a cluster of computers (probably bought in surplus) setup as a cluster utilizing the design properties of the Cray 2. Liquid imersion with a seperate heat exchanger would be the cooling. My rough math showed that I could fit close to 100 motherboards into the same space, using much of the same design logic.
Keep in mind I am talking large, near room size piece of computing furniture.
I've got tons of photos that I can post once I grab some hosting space.
