Hey Everyone. My name is Derek.

I used to be part of the staff at twistedmods back when it first got started way way back in the day. Obviously... it isn't active anymore, however, I still sincerely enjoy computers, mods, and case modding. I was googling and found this to be a very active community from what I see, figured I'd stick my head in the door and see how it is.

For the first time in years I finally upgraded my PC and am working on a new project. Have no name for it yet, but I should have some good pics soon.

For now it's the bare essentials to get her working as right now I needed a computer ASAP (that and I felt incomplete with withdrawls).

Quick camera phone pic I took the other day of it.

Specs are as follows:

AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+
2GB DDRII PC5300
Gigabyte S-Series motherboard
NVidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB PCIe with dual monitor display
130GB worth of hard drive (need more!)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum
DVDrom
52x cd reader/burner combo

Compared to my old specs... (only listing what was different)

AMD Athlon XP 2700+
1GB PC2700
Radeon 9800SE
30GB HD
NForce motherboard

Well... to me, compared to that? Sex in a box.

Have some fun plans for the case. I don't plan on repainting the case, black is sexy. However, I plan on redoing all of the lighting on the outside, adding some, as well as the lighting INSIDE, adding some case fans for better cooling and upgrading the heatsink on the CPU as it's aluminum and i'd really prefer a copper setup.

So as the soldering gun comes out, cutting wheels come out and I decide to whack the case to pieces making my changes, I'll update!

PS: MY GOD i need to clean up that wiring!

Alright everyone, I started mostly with re-arranging the inside. I don't want to ruin it yet and want to get GOOD CLEAR pictures of it tomorrow with my nice camera. However, just so you don't have the visual mess of the wiring till that's all cleaned up here is a rendering of a few things I changed tonight.

Starting off is just kind of what the case looks like... nothing inside, very basic.

I really liked the idea of the actual "intake" the case had built in. The metal "ULTRA" and mesh screen I didn't like... I highlighted it in red.

I removed all the plating and all the crap off of it and slapped a case fan in it's place. I thought at first about directing the intake towards the cpu off the case fan but after i turned the computer on after a few minutes from the big fan on the back and the case fan i noticed a nice amount of COOL air coming out the vents of the front from the air being pushed from the back and it got me thinking!

Anyway, sort of a brief rundown of what you're looking at....

The mesh screen where the big "grill" is also gave me an idea. Right now air is coming out from all the air being sucked in from 2 big fans... however, when it's not on or not doing anything it'll collect dust. Plan is to get a hepa filter in there and cut it to fit. More of a functional less maintenance mod than anything... and I can make it look good too.

And last but not least i was able to rig up my lighting. cathodes, green, and 1 cathode black light.

Tomorrow is "wire cleanup" day. Going to clean up the case and get it going with all the nice cleaned up look and go from there. Right now its a MESS.

As to the entire project I want rounded cables to clean up the crappy flat IDE cables, will make it far less messy. I have some ideas for the inside of the case. The small area that appears to be extra inside the case for drives and what not is PERFECT for mounting something sideways inside the case visible to the outside through the window but not exposed to the outside elements (such as... oh... temperature displays? system status?) but I won't ruin what I have planned.

Probably will be a sloooow project for me because riding season is coming up and all my motorcycles are begging to be ridden as it warms up... but I will post up pics as it progresses!
