I was recently reading this:

http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1366/unified_forceware_201_77_exclusive_test/index.html

And was getting excited until the end page where it's revealed that it's an april fools joke. Every single site I've been too, has an april fools joke on it..... I never saw this last year.... why is it suddenly essential for a site to contain one this year? Is it because it's an Olympic year or that everyone is depressed because of the economic depression?

Look at slashdot, or thinkgeek. AFAICR they have been big time April Fools Jokers, Google has been as well. :banghead:Digg is big into it too. Last year many sites were doing them, just April 1st was on a Sunday last year so you probably didn't remember it (Woot sold BOCs for 1 million USD, if you were smart there was a promocode for a rebate that dropped it down to the usual 1USD). I think it's lame, especially for news sites, and I don't trust a thing I see posted on the 1st of April or in the hour before April 1st and the hour after.

Brilliant. Inspiring too. I just rickroll'd a group of friends from my Warcraft days on their myspace pages.

I find it annoying as well, but as long as its only one day of the year dont worry about it

It could be worse. And I think it's actually very funny of youtube to do that, as this is pretty much the year that the rickroll is really hitting it big outside of internet circles.
