Hey guys

Looking for a Small Form Factor PSU, not really sure of the power requirements I might need but I'm looking for one that will power a AM2 AMD 3800+ X2 CPU (Non-EE I believe) and an Asus mATX motherboard, 2-4 ram modules (currently 1GB, more ram may be needed), a laptop DVD/CDRW combo, and possibly a CompactFlash/IDE converter. The max size the PSU could be would be roughly 244xSomethingx70 mm, something being a variable which I'm not too fussed about.

If your interested in my plans, I'm looking at a HTPC case that runs linux via a CF card or over the network; no drive would be needed as a fileserver would be connected over 1gbit ethernet (Along with a RAM filesystem for caching video). I'm planning to use custom written software, and if all goes well it would be released to the public ;)

Anyways, can anybody recommend a decent form factor for the project? All I've been able to find are mATX/ITX power supplies, which dont fit the size or power requirements I'd need :(

Cheers,

As always I am a big fan of the PicoPSU (linky (http://www.mini-box.com/s.nl/it.A/id.417/.f)) It is only __Watts though. Also you will need an extra power adapter (220V -> 12V or 110V -> 12V) to make it work. Also have a look around at that website, because I believe they offer more sorts of PSUs that are compact and such.

hope that helps

(the website seems to be offline at the moment, may you can google for "PicoPSU")

silver demon beat me to that site. I've purchased from there before. It's a trustworthy place and their products are top notch.

I've also used 1U PSUs before. They don't require an AC-DC adapter and are more powerful. A quick google search brought me to this (http://rackmountmart.stores.yahoo.net/tc1u4is1u40a.html).

Good luck on the mod!
