PSU Calc lite

Just how trustworthy is PSU Calc lite?
cuz according to it, my computer uses 241 watts at 90% load, but i've had people recommend at least a 500 watt psu after i told them my specs.

The thing is, after I upgraded to the Thermaltake 420 Watts from my stock PSU, I saw a massive improvement in the overall system performance. Pppl are probably telling you what the best case scenario is (lol... no punt intended)...

PSU Calc is pretty accurate, but with a 3850, it should be telling you to get atleast a 400+ watt psu...

I'm still getting good performance out of everything, it runs crysis with everything at high except objects at 45-60fps

at the very least is that psu a good name brand? i would upgrade soon, don't skimp on the psu.

Remember, 90% load isn't full load ;)

okay, okay, i did it again with a little bit exaggerated specs at peak load, and it was 268 watts. excellent, i'm planning on getting a 270 watt psu.
not great for it, but it works, and the psu is only 1.6x3.2x6 inches :D
trying for a slim computer.

Get a 350W PSU at least. If you can, find a 450W PSU.

Hey, it gave me 316w on this one... I'd be confident with a 420w Enermax or the like, but not much lower than that... 100% peak, worst-case scenario, 10% cap aging.

I dunno.

You can do quite a bit with an older PSU though - something like a Seasonic, Enermax, etc. rated for 350w will power pretty much any single-DX9-card system.
