Flashing LED problem

Picked up an LED that flashes thru several colors. I hooked it up and it works, but once it finishes it's cycle of colors, about 8ish seconds long, it stops until to remove power and turn it back on again. Is there some way to make it reset by itself?

Does the LED have some sort of data sheet. The best place to look for information like what you need would the data sheet, it should tell you. Other than that I guess you could build a PWM power supply for it, which would probably reset it automatically.

A timer or timed relay would do it but seems rather expensive for how it should work.

Can you locate a diode or capacitor?
