Hello,
I have the Asus p5n-E MB with
two Elite Group 8500GT Cards, Running
in SLI Mode.

The system combo is not powerful
enough + I get lot's of CTD & Blue
Screens of Death !

Not sure if the problem is the MB or
Video Card's a Family friend who has
been a Technician for 20+ years now
has suggested that I upgrade to the following
MB + Video Card's;
Gigabyte ga-ex38-dq6 (Motherboard)
&
Gigabyte gv-rx385512h (Video Card)

Total amount for Vid + MB is $537 & Both
are ATI Based running Crossfire (Which I will purchase
Video Card No#2 at a later date)
He belive that setup will run anything, is this Correct?
What are your opinions here?

Could anyone suggest another setup?
nVidia or ATI.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.
Please reply ASAP.
Thank you for your time and help

i would say it will run anything, it's up there for sure with top of the line, not theee best you can get though. but for the average hardcore gamer it would rock.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply,
If it is not the Best being a Gigabyte 3850 ATI,
What is the Best?

3870 X2 would be best. Holds up with (I think) all current nVidia cards, or close to.

I would suggest an x48 if its within your budget, and if you plan to crossfire, maybe 2 3870's as they are cheaper and marginally faster than the 3870x2

I prefer XFX mobo. I have the 680i in mine and a 650i in my dads. Never had a problem with either of them. As for graphics cards I run a EVGA 8800 GT Superclocked and I can run anything out there on High settings. (Crysis on Very High) If you run 2 8800 GT's you'll beat anything out there. Or if you can afford it go with 2 8800 GTX/Ultra's.

But that's just me...

Hello,
I know that nVidia is faster in most cases
then ATI, But I have read / heard from various
people that nVidia Cards tend to be unstable and
overheat frequently & Even though ATI are a tad
slower, they tend to be more stable and run less
hot.
Is this true?
Thank you for your time and help

Never had a NVIDIA card go bad or overheat. Even during some extensive overclocking experiments.

the best possible setup i can think on now is either 3 8800 Ultra's (will run you 1500-1800 if you can find them) or 2 9800GX2's.

but the gigabyte cards are pretty close up there.

Personally, don't bother with the 8800 Ultras. A few 9800GTX with some decent clocks will beat them ;)
