This is one of the worst ways to have to spend $300. A few months ago I had plugged my creative zen stone into my pc to charge it. only to have my pc shutdown. I then proceded to unplug the mp3 player and attempt to turn it back on. the fans began to spin then it shut right off. so i tried plugging the mp3 into another computer of mine, and wouldn't you know it, it had the decency to alert me of a surge coming from it. so i figured the mp3 had fried my mobo(asus m2n-sli deluxe). so i ordered a new mobo(gigabyte p35-ds3l) and a cpu(E4500). A few weeks ago i ordered the 4gb creative zen. it used to the exact same usb cable as my last zen, which i still have. so i naturally grabbed the first usb cable in sight to charge it. only to have it not respond. so i quickly unplug it. i look for the other usb cable and plug it in with that, only to have it work fine. i plug my old mp3 player in and it works fine.

so i spent about $300 because of a busted usb cable. of which $100 was not even neccessary as my old mp3 still works.

Rough man.. I've had similar troubles, but not to the tune of $300.
At least you have extra toys now..

well the old mobo is dead, and i was running a x2 3800(which im not sure if its dead or not). so the new mobo and cpu is an upgrade anyways. the 4gb zen is alot better then the 1gb zen stone so im not gonna be returning it.

needless to say it sucks that a $0.15 cable caused about $200 in damage and caused me to spend $300.

That stinks man. At least you can probably sell the Zen Stone on ebay if you don't want it.
