so, i was working on designing a simple PCB for an adapter/power injector (http://tabletblog.com/2006/01/usb-power-injector-2.html) for USB on my nokia 770. i wanted something sleeker and smaller than what the link shows and decided with the use of a printed circuit i could keep the footprint basically the same as a 9v battery and it would come out with a final size of maybe two 9v batts put together (possibly smaller). also the adapter in that link is missing something that's kinda important to the proper workings of a 7805 regulator (two small capacitors keep the amperage from sine waving from my understanding) so i'll be including that. once i get all the parts i need i'll make a short work log of it. here is on of my designs for the PCB...

the black area is left behind while the white area is etched.
i have another one that looks cooler but will require to look slightly less cool to be functional.
anyway while thinking about the process involved with etching the board and toying with my little tablet it occured to me that the sliding cover on the 770 is aluminum and would probably etch just fine. so now i'm going to put an ambigram on it...

(that says Shaw Lewis in case you're wondering)
i'll clean it up a bit and stretch it some to optomize it for this project.
this is by no means a full fledged mod because the device is tiny and i'd be stupid to attempt dremeling any part of the main case with my level of expirience (0). but i've not seen much customization to these handy little devices on the web (besides a nifty detachable bracket for the train and one that was turned into a sort of laptop). there just aren't many examples of actually case modding one and that disappointed me so much that now i have to make something more asthetic. the best part is that it's something i can do today, as long as i can get motivated to set-up the old laser printer. if i do, pics will insue.
ok, ok, i'm getting up. worklog coming soon.
