First off, why are all the bulgin switches i see 15+ bucks? i just want a simple pushin bulgin switch, but definately dont want to pay that much.

Also, im trying to heatshrink cables. My 1-4th size cant fit over the connectors, and the 1-2 heatshrink fits on, but when shrinked, isnt shrinked enough. Is there a way to solve this?

Also, best place to buy blue led's? and what do i need to know before i purchase

Here's a switch for $6: http://www.mnpctech.com/Vandal_Resistant_Switch.html

This what you had in mind?

Sorry can't help with the heatshrink. I buy my LED's from Radio Shack but I'm sure there are cheaper places. Most important thing to know is the proper resistor to get with your LED to get it to run with your power source without burning out.

I am fairly certain the switch on an optical drive is just a momentary switch. Ask around to be be sure but I'd lay money on it.

You need to take the connectors off. I just posted doing it to my mod. You also need a pin pusher tool. (Don't know the technical term for it). Pin remover maybe. Anyways, your 1/4" tubing will work with the 1/4" sleeving. But all molex connectors will come off. Where you will run in to a prob is with the AUX power, that 8-pin power one, and the PCI-Express connectors. They don't really come off. At least I haven't found a way yet.

If you wanna use the next size up to get over connectors, use 3/16" to 1up the 1/4". Going from 1/4" to 1/2" is a HUGE jump.

Hope it helps.
