So I was rummaging through my room tonight while waiting for my case to dry... and I stumbled on an OLD mobo. Anyone remember the AMD Socket A? Well this is it!

Now I looked... I could pick up a processor for like $20 and have it for some future mod I do that needs some guts. (and when I have no cash lol) I think I have RAM for it and I know I have a 128 MB video card for it.(AGP)

Here's the specs:
Supported Processors- AMD Athlon/Duron, 200/266 FSB
Supported Memory- Two 168-pin SDRAM RAM, 133 MHz
- Two 184-pin DDR RAM, 266 MHz
- Total supported RAM = 1 GB
Expansion Slots- 1 AMR
- 1 AGP 4x
- 5 PCI
Misc- ATX Power supply
- Full ATX forum factor
- IDE HDD/CD-ROM

So do you guys think its worth keeping around for a cheap build?

Thanks,

-Fuga

It would make a really cheap backup or low powered server.

Heck yeah, or send it to me and I'll make a cheap media player out of it.

I was about to say the same--or even better, check out Geexbox, it'd run very smoothly on a Socket A. Low powered HTPC ftw!

That board looks familiar... I threw out (err. recycled) a bad one of those two years ago. If you have some socket A Athlon XPs (some of the early ones) I believe a BIOS revision for that board supports them. I still have a 1.4Ghz (266Mhz bus) Athlon that I don't use, I can confirm it works, there is also a 1Ghz (200Mhz bus??) chip that I've never tested. If you want them I can throw them on e-bay.
