I've read about how hard it is to use a laptop lcd for a desktop, but that's pretty much exactly what i need.
I'l looking to make a thin case, and a 15.4-17 inch laptop lcd would be perfect.

if someone knows a place that sells the kit of lcd/controller, that would be awesome.

www.earthlcd.com is a good one, try the search on here for about a dozen threads of this exact topic. :D

I hate to highjack this thread, but does anyone know where to buy Laptop LCDs that run @ 1920x1200 (or new laptop LCDs in general)?

Thanks,
Indybird

I would just google it.. ebay always has a ton of pulls from salvaged laptops too.

@cvitullo: I don't know if this (http://www.instructables.com/id/Laptop-Converted-to-2nd-Monitor/) will help you but I remembered seeing it a while back and maybe it will help out in some way.

@IndyBird: Do they even make laptop LCD's that are that big. Thats massive. Like 24" I think. Like Luke said I would check ebay.

Yeah thats why Im interested. You get 1920x1200 @ 15.4" or 17" which makes for an extremely sharp image.

i've seen that site, but they're a little pricey and small for what i'm aiming for. the biggest they have is 15.1, for $389. that's more than i want to spend on the entire project.... i'm only 16, getting my first job over the summer.
sorry, didn't even think about searching. i'll try that next time i need something.
