I personally play Alto, Tenor, Bari sax in the school jazz band. Do you guys play any instruments for fun or in a band?

Good job including strings. I play violin, piano, oboe, cor anglais and bass guitar. I also play guitar hero pretty well, if that counts for anything.

Sorry about that. It was late when I posted this, and I'm in a jazz band so I didn't think about anything other then that haha

But taht's cool that we have some musicians on here.

I play a little bass guitar (but mostly sing) in my band with my friends "The Sirs".

We're pretty beginner but we don't play anything that makes us sound such.

Oh yeah and I play Cello in my school Orchestra.

Wow a lot of Bass Guitarists here, I myself am sort of learning Bass Guitar. A friend of mine decided to start teaching me the other day, I'll have to see if that ends up going anywhere.

I play trumpet and French horn. I can also stumble my way through the drums if someone were desperate, but I'm nowhere near a quality player. I also play enough piano to help me learn music for the vocal jazz group I'm in. My main instrument is French horn though.

I've been playing piano for nine years, just started playing fur elise (http://youtube.com/watch?v=4n5ZSqMU0Jw), nearly done with it, can play solfegietto (http://youtube.com/watch?v=veEU31TNDeo)(probably almost better than this guy, except for some parts. This is the jist of it)

Sure. There are people who are four years younger than me playing harder songs, but hey- I'm pretty much in it to enjoy it. I like sitting down, flexing my fingers, and playing some simple chord progression in the left hand while the right slams out a solo. It's not hard, but it's really fun. I could be killing myself over playing piano, spending a whole lot more time on it, then going to college for a music degree and doing such and such afterwards, but hey- There are other things I want to do with my life other than press down keys on a board in a manner that is pleasing.

Anyway. I also play a little bit of drumset and wish I had spent all of this time on guitar (or do I?). Instruments are fun.

I play a MEAN stereo!

hehe

Seriously I have professional training on;
Drums (played in a country band for several years), including Conga's, a simple trap set and a dual base Rock setup.
Clarinet (played clarinet in the marching band and bass clarinet in the Jazz band. I could still probably squeak out a song or two).
Marimba (learned from one of the best and I still practice on her set from time to time).
Bass Guitar (so so, no need for frets (see next item).
Bass Viol (quite the spinner and slapper).

My main passion is percussion, of any type. Every time I travel somewhere I try and pick up one of the native peoples instruments (or I solicit gifts from my friends that travel somewhere). I have this one percussion item that has a string attached to a small conga style drumhead that you can adjust the tension and then bend the attaching wood pieces to change the pitch. Really cool!

So BigJohnson, you've got a Gibson SG from the looks of it, what amp?

BigJohnson
05-01-2008, 03:34 PM
Oh, its an Epiphone G400. Its a '62 Gibson reissue.

The amp is a Peavy Transtube with a built in EFX board. It sounds really good. Sounds even better with a nicer amp. I am going to replace this peavy as soon as its fixed. The board died on it so I hardly get any output. I hear its semi-regular for combo amps, so Ill get something nicer when I move out of my condo. I dont want the neighbors to kill me.

Good question CB.

.. ahem ..; so are you experimenting? Or what? ... I would have guessed one that you blow, maybe a guitar and perhaps some percussion?

I guess you could mod them all and play them simultaneously via a PC with MIDI ... (imagines Rick, with a long white beard, emerging from his garage in ten years crying "Eureka!" )

SgtM

I could probably manage only 2. The wind instruments and guitar take both hands, but percussion could be controlled by my feet. Not unlike the drummer from Def Leppard.

Well I play trumpet in my schools jazz and concert bands. I'm pretty good at it but don't practice nearly enough. Started to play it 4 years ago in music class, and for band.

And I have also played bass for the last 7 years, starting in middle school. Here's my baby:

http://www.classicacafe.com/images/customer-images//9650thFenderJazz5BassFull.gif

I have number 137 of 500 produced.

I also have a 400 watt Peavey bass amp head with a 15 2-10 cab

I play percussion; after I get the card to connect the camcorder to my computer, I can upload a video to youtube and post a link.
