Painting help

Ok so i started painting my mod the other day, following the instructions like Crimson Sky said in his book. I waited 48 hours for the first panel i painted to dry and then i sanded it with 1500 and 2000 grit papers. The only problem is that sanding completely takes the shine out of the paint. Is this supposed to happen? Does the clear coat bring back the luster of the paint? or am i doing something wrong that everyone else is telling me to do?

Yeah man. Don't sweat it. The shine comes back with the clear coat.

Between color coats 1000 grit is fine. You're just smoothing out the surface for the next color.
