You can't view if you're not part of the retail edge program ;)

Said the intel site.

I don't really want to create an account just to see it, so just give us the gist of it. A core 2 would definitely beat a phenom if you picked the right program to bench it in.

Here's a review of the Q lineup. The Q9300(entry level) beats the Phenom 9850 in 10 of 11 tests.

The Phenom is just an entry into the world of AM2+/AM3 sockets. Socket 775 has been out for quite a while, and has been perfected. Sure the new Intel 45 nm processors are faster than the Phenom, but imagine what AMD has set up for the future of their company, and what they might have up their sleeve. ;).

Just saw these recently...

I see they've shipped the tri cores. These should be good for the consumer PC market, methinks.

The thing is that the q9300 costs more than the 9850. But I think we see the true power of 45nm emerging, how exciting! Computing is amazingly awesome.

Intel's Core 2 Duo beats the AMD tri-core too. I still love my 6000+, but AMD has gone into the toilet and it all started when they picked up ATI

^ that is definitely an interesting piece. It's says variants will be available before 2010.

I saw that bit of news on AMD a while back too. It'll be awesome, but only if they can hold on long enough to make it to 2010. In regards to the OP, intel wins EVERY benchmark because they can be overclocked substantially higher than any AMD quad proc. It is unfortunate because the part of the market that buys these procs, namely enthusiasts, know this, so they end up going intel.

In a couple years, maybe less, I'll upgrade R2-M5 to at least a Quad core. Maybe better....
