Why is this (http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-Athlon64-X2-4800-Socket-939-CPU-heatsink-FREE-ship_W0QQitemZ290227993932QQihZ019QQcategoryZ13368 2QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) going for $500?

wishful thinking perhaps?

And people are asking questions about it also, "what price can we agree on so that it will ship tomorrow" on the bottom of the page. That thing should be sub $100, heh heh. This is like the time I saw an old, old laptop that didn't have a touchpad and like 32mb of ram going for $400. Last year.

Ebay is a great place to prey on the simple minded.

Search for other 4800's, they're barely selling. There are over 30 bids too!

WOW! And if you pull up the bid history on it, the guy that is currently winning it set up auto bid at $202.50 - $480.00. The last couple of increases were manual bids.

Do they think they are getting a complete computer? I wonder what they'd pay for my AMD X2 4400 AM2? Heck, because I'm a nice guy, I'd throw in 1GB of generic memory for $500.00.:D

I could probably get $2000 for my 6000+!!

If I still had my archaic 700mhz AMD machine with 64MB RAM I bet I could get about $300 for that sucker! lol

Makes me think I could sell this rig I have right now for like $2k and build something way better, lol. Hooray for stupid people! :D

It's socket 939??? NOT 940. Is that some kind of rarity?

Socket 939 was the socket before am2 and 940. It's around 2 years old, it was phased out of production around 6 months ago I am going to say.

That is crazy. It's like what I read in Maximum PC, a 7900GTX was $300

Maybe its the best made for that socket and they don't make it anymore.

Well at least I know I won't lose any money when I upgrade my Athlon X2 6000+ to a Phenom. Was planning on selling the Athlon on eBay, now I'm convinced.

Did read all reply's but it's cause it's Socket939.

Alot of people still use Socket939 boards. I believe if I'm not mistaken the 4800+ X2 was the highest in that line for Socket939.

I just recently sold my used 4200+ Socket939 X2 for 140$ on another forum.

My motherboard pooped out on me so I'm moving up to AM2/Am2+
