I just received my new case, an Enermax Phoenix (which I love). Have it put together, but the miscellaneous parts included these two odd items:

The first is hard to tell from the picture, but it's rough and metallic, it looks like a magnet but it's not. Obviously the inclosed documentation managed to be equally useless in five different languages. No mention whatsoever of these parts, in print, photo or diagram. Anyone?

Bling maybe? Pity it didn't come with the chain.

The ring appears to be a ferrite ring, to reduce RFI in something, just not sure what they had intended it for.
The second appears to be a case lock tab. If you look around one of the panel openings, there maybe a slot that would line up with a mounting screw on the case chassis. The case lock tab would then screw to the chassis, and the tab would fit through the slot, then you could use some sort of pad type lock to keep intruders out of the case.

Two reviews, a video review, newegg, product homepage, as well as a handful of miscellaneous websites featuring the Enermax Phoenix for whatever reason...
AND I FOUND NOTHING. Nothing! As in or otherwise known as; Notta. Zip. Zilch. Zotta.
...okay I just made that last word up, but still! I couldn't find anything even after looking through all those web pages!
Someone must of divided by zero again. Thats the only explanation that I can come up with as to why these little do-dads cannot be identified in any way, shape and/or form.
Maybe if we (otherwise known as someone other than my lazy self) send an email to Enermax they can help identify not only what they are, but what they are for?

The first is indeed a ferrite ring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrite_bead). It's usually used in conjunction with the wires running to your front panel (on/off and reset, not the usb/audio).
Do you need it? Not really, unless your other hobbies (ham radio comes to mind) can suffer from interference. I usually toss my rings into the recycling bin.

I have highlighted where the lock tab is located for the phoenix.
Were there 2 of them in the package? It has allowances for one on each side.
Do you need to mount them?? Not unless you want to pad lock your panels on, or secure the case with a cable.
Enjoy!
