Did anybody here play that on the BBS's back in the no internet days? I used to run all my turns out and drive my parents crazy tying up the phone line for hours at a time.
The only reason I ask is I found a few Telnet servers running it and now I found a free game with graphic which seems to kinda mimic the game play other than you don't have to type everything its all mouse clicks.

Starport SE (http://www.starportgame.com/) is the name of the game and so far I'm well on my way of burning out the 1700 "warp fuel" they give you to start, and I only started a few days ago.

Same basics as Tradewars, port, trade, port, trade. Get shot at, shoot back and hope you get out alive. You do have to download the game though to connect. I've been looking for free game for when my wife decides to cut my WoW off. Hopefully she'll be nice and let me buy the Orange Box at the end of the month.

So if anybody out there wants to come and play I use the Permaverse 3 server under, what else Bopher.

Seems like one or both of two things:

1) A pumped up version of Space trader

or

2) A simpler version of EVE Online

I'd download and play it if I didn't have a crap ton of other games I need to beat first, lol. It does look fun though.

If it's like the Orange Box here (ie costing $99.95) then just get the Valve complete pack.
