Yep, NVidia are changing their naming sheme. But there have been things that have been interesting me. So far the rumour mill says it's basically a 9800GX2 on a single chip. What do you guys think of it? Is there anything else you've heard?

Things we know:
-It's a big chip, literally
-Has full DX10 support (Possibly DX10.1?)
-240 SPs (Apparently they're 2nd generation which are 50% faster than the previous generation)
-It's most likely going to have 1GB of GDDR3
-Dual slot cooler
-Full GPU PhysX support (maybe a hint that GPU PhysX in being released soonish)

Rumour-ville is starting to crank up. Current rumours say the chip runs at 600/1300/1100 (Core/Shaders/Ram).... except apparently this card is going to cost $600+. Something just doesn't add up here.

Video games are now seeing an added dependence on physics processing, just as well as GPU and CPU. GPU's Such as NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce graphics processor have shifted the dependence of video games onto the GPU, and added an on-board PhysX co-processor, it won't be long before the CPU really offers no level of performance for video games.

I won't be able to afford it, and it's against my blood to buy nvidia, but moving in the direction of "dual core" graphics chips seems like a good idea, if they can cool it without needing solid CO2.

Dual core graphics cards are a bit of an oxymoron if you think about it... Each 'core' has many processors in it... it's more efficient to add those processors to a core.

Little bit more info, it seems that the GTX280 will go for $649 and the GTX260 will go for $449.

omg that review blows goat!... the dude fills it up with personal meaning instead of tests and facts...

and read the comment a dude made about crossfire and quad crossfire being bad:P..
"the biggest problem with 4870 is only 512 megs ram. You will not be able to play some games at 2560x1600 as it doesn't have enough ram"
my card uses about 200 mb of ram playing supreme commander @ 1920*1200 with everything at highest settings... so dont think that the ram would be a problem lol
