I'm getting ready to build a new pc, but slightly on a budget...

the GPU on my mind is the GeForce 8800GT, since it has an awesome price to performace ratio

But my question is this: Whish manufacturer should i buy from? Should it be EVGA, BFG, Palit or whichever other one it comes from?

please write back soon :)

EVGA has been good, warranty allows over-clocking!

I have always had great respect for XFX cards and newegg has a nice range of XFX 8800GT's:

256MB @ 600 Mhz @ $159.99
256MB Alphadog @ 650 Mhz @ $162.99
512MB @ 600 Mhz @ 169.99 with "quiet and cool Zalman fan" (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150280)
512MB @ 600Mhz @ 179.99 with free "Company of Heroes"
512MB @ 640Mhz @ 189.99

Here's the full list (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=50001669%2040000048&Manufactory=1669&page=1&srchInDesc=8800%20GT&bop=And&SpeTabStoreType=0)

The 256MB models are less well received than the 512MB ones and the 512MB one I have linked to up there ^ looks like the best of the bunch.

I have the EVGA 8800 GT Superclocked. Works wonders with my Q6700.

Although I had 2 bad cards.... EVGA still replaced it for me at no cost.

Both sound nice... SLI'ing them both sounds fun :) hahah that'd be awesome..

Some dude on a Newegg review SLI'ed an XFX and a BFG Tech one...

ya i second or third or what ever its up to EVGA, not only do you get a good warranty, the ability to overclock, and program from them to overclock but they have there step up program so if you decide you want more power you can pay the difference between the card you got and card you want.

There are 2 superclocked EVGA's on Newegg one at 650Mhz one at 720Mhz. The lower speed one is $45 more than the XFX card - and I'd be surprised if you could not OC that XFX card to 650Mhz. But yep all the extra customer care from EVGA is great. Exceptional company.

Edit: However I forgot you also get a double lifetime warranty with XFX cards - when you sell the card on to someone else, if they register the card with XFX, they also have a lifetime warranty. This helps the resale value of XFX cards.

Both great companies, great cards.

I too would recomend eVGA, I've used them repeatedly, I also have a VisionTek ATI card. Their warranty is nice in it has a life time warranty but their per replacement S&H seems a bit higher ($10 Money order to replace it). I would probably go back to eVGA if I had the option.

The catch with the step up program, is you have to go to the highest card available, not just pick a new one.

XFX is what I would get if I were updating my hardware. My current machine has an XFX and it has been a solid performer for video games and DVD playback.

pretty sure it doesn't matter what card you get so long as it costs more than what you paid, then again i haven't done it.

You can choose any card you want, but if it is cheaper, you lose the difference. I almost did it and such I was looking into it

Thanks bunches all!!! I appreciate all the ideas...
But over all i tihnk i'm going with an XFX card because of all the nice things people say about them...

ALSO

sorry i havne't been on for like freaking ever. time and money has been tight since i now work 2 places full time for the summer...
money hopefully won't be so hard to come across... but actually obtaining the things i need might be, since mommy hates me buying online with her credit card :)

so anywho, the final verdict for this question is an XFX 512mb 8800GT :)
Thanks everyone!!
