Is this water cooling setup any good for a beginner?

NO stay away from kits, aside from swiftech kits. spend the little extra on better parts and you will be happy. even if it is your first kit/water cooling why make it a bad one with crappy stuff to save a few bucks?

If you really want to water-cool go for a custom built system.You can get better parts and exactly what you want.

True, it will be more expensive but it is worth it in the end.

water block,depends on whether you use Intel or AMD .

Tubing comes down to what size (diameter) you like.
Mine is 8/10mm cos i prefer smaller hoses.

Fans too many to choose from. Noctua. Scythe, Sharkoon, Yate Loon and Xilence are all good makes.

i would stay away from plastic bay res's they have a tendency to crack and leak.

the reason i suggested swiftech kits is because they build there kits with the parts you would normally buy separate but you get a discount since its a "kit"

if you want close to the best setup for a quad core cpu and have room for adding 2 video cards and a chipset then i would go with this.

it's got all you need (minus mounting hardware, hose clamps, distilled water) the fans are high speed ones for best performance but if you don't like it so loud you can either get lower speed fans or put the high speed fans on a fan controller.
