Anyone got any tips on how I should go about it?

I am planning to do this as well, I basically plan to take the case 100% apart into seperate plates and paint both sides. But that depends on case construction.

Usually all of the parts, or at least most of them, are riveted together, so just get as much apart as you can.

So would I have to rivit it back together again or could I get by leaving it in tact because I wanted to get it done today and I dont have a rivit gun.
screws n nuts.. get short ones
Good question, I've seen a lot of vids and guides on painting the outside. Now when I watch those though I can't help but wonder what is on the other side of what's being painted and what work went into that other side. What would be a good way of prepping for painting too as there is a lot of fiddley wee nooks and crannies.
Powdercoating looks a good way to go but I'd be looking at going down the poor mans route for now, even if that just means getting what I have clean looking.

It's probably ok to leave everything riveted together when you paint the case, I've seen it done that way many times. That way, the rivets are painted, too.

Drill em out, and put new rivets in when you reassemble.

All of these methods would work. It all depends on what you want to do. Personally, I kept my case intact when I painted it. I have yet to finish it though.
