Inspired by all the great work on TBCS I decided to give my current case a facelift. The original plan was just to put an air intake in the spare drive bays as the side window I was planning would reduce the airflow. After messing around in sketchup I decided the best idea would be to replace the front panel altogether.

The case I'm using is a Coolermaster wave that I've had for a couple of years and am quite bored with, there's not a whole lot of space inside with the graphics card and the HDD's almost touching, but I'm going to hold on to it for a while until I can afford to build something from scratch;)

Here are some plans for the new front panel I drew up in sketchup.

Ok, imageshack is giving me trouble right now so i cant post any more pics:(. I have a bit of work done, I'll get the pics up as soon as I can.

The materials will be:
2mm sheet plastic(back panel off a washing machine)
2mm clear perspex
mesh will be picked up real cheap
paint is plastikote, dark blue speckled

I have the basic structure cut and assembled. I still have to make buttons+holders, make the perspex rim(clear, wet sanded and lit with blue LEDs), mount usb ports on the side, sand+paint, sand+paint.......

Please let me know what you think, any input is welcome as this is my first mod and I've never worked with plastics or perspex before.

Looked like it said . . wavelet facelet.
If you want the subtle wave effect you could probably shape some plexi-glass with a heatgun just shape it over a steel pipe and probably achieve the desired effect within a few tries.

Ok, I've given up on imageshack, Ithink the problem is mostly my useless ISP. Smooth surfing my ass:( Anyway, here's what I've got done so far. It's a crude start but I'll finnish it up nice;)

Picked up some model filler today and got a bit on, lots more to do. Have started on the buttons and power/hdd lights and should have those fitted by the monday.

Any body got an idea how many LEDs it'll take to light the acrylic around the air vent? I'll need to pick some up.

Thanks for the positive comments folks. Unfortunatly almost no progress to report:(, just a little sanding and filling. Started a new job this week so I was a little short on time. Will hopefully get my hands on a lathe this weekend so I can cook up some buttons:D

will have some pics up by the end of the week.
