a idea just hit me before.. i was thinking of having a computer in a picture frame but that would be crazy..

then i thought why not have a recess in the wall have your mobo on the front and have all the cables running behind it. and place a picture frame over it. it would then give the picture that the mobo is in the frame :)

no pun intended

cool idea or what?? now on your marks, knock a hole in your wall and DREMEL!! :)

The actual hardware on display as if it was art. nice

You could even elevate it to a higher standard using a touchscreen in an other frame next to the hardware.

A friend of mine actually did make something like this with an old laptop he even wrote a special web page that would make it function like any other computer but only with 10 buttons that where hidden on the sides of the frame.

yours Cheron.

Good idea, this was actually the premise behind my project Framed. Although I was using a laptop to keep it on the thin side. Unfortunately I was forced to postpone the project due to faulty hardware. Eventually I'd like to start the project back up again with newer hardware.

Don't let it stop you from trying the idea just because very similar mods have been done before. The one thing you mentioned I don't think has been done is to recess the computer in a wall. If you are able to do that then go for it.

i have recently recessed my screen into the wall, and having a cover over it, when the cover is opened the screen can come forward from its mount. wasnt too hard, looks great and its a 17" touchscreen for my touchscreen jukebox

I've actually been thinking about building one into the floor.

I've actually been thinking about building one into the floor.

Adequate cooling + tough Acrylic cover to protect it = WIN.

Are you thinking about just eliminating the tower for a minimalist look, or to have some sort of floor related functionality?

It's out of the way, and there's less clutter from the wires, since I could run the cords for the speakers into the wall and the ethernet cord would never have to be exposed. No extra functionality that I can think of, though, so it would be more for the minimalist look.

There was probably somebody spamming the thread, and the post got removed soon after being reported.
