This seems to be as good a place as any to post these pics. As many of you know, I refer to my main machine as blue, due to it residing in a blue UV reactive plexi case.

A while back I decided to try my hand at etching (got a few plans for the Frankenstripe, and needed some practice); first on a piece of scrap plex and then on the real thing.

Here's where I'm at right now:

Day Shot, side angle:

Night Shot, same angle, UV CCFL about 18 inches away:

Night Shot, straight on, UV CCFL behind and at bottom of panel:

As I find more tribal tattoo art that catches my fancy, I will most likely add to the case.

Thoughts?

Very nice etching man! Have some more rep. BTW, I'll bet that you could set some UV LED's into that plexi. If you want some to experiment with, hit me up.

That looks great.. I love tribal stuff... and definitely love sun images. That reminds me of the symbol from Godsmack's first album. Hella good etching. :D

Maybe try to edge light that sucker.. I bet that would look slick. :D

Thanks for the feedback guys. Truth be told, I hate this case with a passion, so I don't think I'll be doing any edge lighting anytime soon on it. Frank, on the other hand, has a very good possibility of getting some edge lighting treatment, as I got 100 white LEDs along with the 100 red ones from Ledshoppe. I was going to do some etching on it today, but it was just too damn nice outside to stay cooped up indoors.

Thread necro time. I've added a bit to this side panel:

I'll get some UV shots tonight. I may or may not continue on with the etching this evening as well.

And the work continues:

I was going to flip the dragon around for the other fanhole, but that's a little too cliche for me. Time to find some more tribal art.

looks really sweet, the design is cool. It goes good with the blue!

Didn't realize how much of a thread jump that was, but either way that is some nice work! That's some awesomely clean lines for just starting out etching. Guess who just made it on my "If I ever need an etcher" list?

Hah! Thanks for the kind comments. All it takes is a steady hand, a clear mind, some good music (I usually have Van Halen or Def Leppard playing when I'm etching) and patience. I've added a bit more to the side panel, and will be dismantling the whole system this weekend (everything is going into the Modtek case I just reviewed for the time being) so I can continue on my merry way.

As promised, the continuation of the etching:

I have no idea at all where I'm going with this, other than to cover up all the real estate.

That will look awesome when/if completely covered with etchings.
