Hey guys,

I'm looking for some suggestions for something I'm working on. I'm trying to fit a monitor, keyboard, and mouse into a drawer so that a computer can be placed in a cabinet, and have nothing on top of the counter.

I've looked at some rackmount workstations with flip up LCD's, but they are hella pricey. $700 minimum, and i just dont have that kind of cash. I have a perfectly good 19" LCD to use, and I've already found a keyboard with a touchpad built in, so no worries about a seperate keyboard and mouse (or having enough space for them both).

The only trouble is that I want to make the LCD fold down and out of the way to close the drawer. I've been looking into using an "under cabinet" LCD mount, and just mounting it in the drawer (upside down), so the monitor will flip up to use, then down when it needs to be closed. The problem is that none of the ones I've found so far are spring loaded, and i dont want the LCD to fall down on its face if someone tries to push the drawer shut with the screen up.

There's one more catch... I need to have this thing BUILT and INSTALLED by Friday June 27th. If anyone can help me find the right LCD mount for this, I will reward you by mailing you ************** ( a suprise!). Yes, I'll mail you a reward, for real.

So, any takers? All I need is a link or a model number or something, so I can get this thing emergency overnight shipped to me, or I get some kind of custom thing built.

I am considering using some sort of gas struts, like the ones that hold up a hatch on a car or something, but it needs to look good, as it's going into a retail store. If I cant find a good solution, I'll build one, but I hope someone has a ready built product for this.

Post in here, email, or call me, I need answers fast!!!!

Something along these lines (http://www.nlsdisplays.com/index.html)? I couldn't find a price on them but I though maybe the schematics could give you an idea on springs and supports.

That's exactly what I'm trying to build, but I'm looking specifically for an LCD mount that will let the monitor fold down like that. An undercabinet one might work, as it has to fold up and hold the monitor there, but that makes me think it'll lock in one position only, not in both. Does that make sense?

Thanks for the fast reply, lets see some more people!

only thing i can think is use a slow close hinge so if it is closed unexpectedly the monitor is not harmed (same thing as the slow close or anti slam drawers)

Ok guys, thanks both for your input. If you both PM me, I'll be mailing you each a prize!

So what I dedcided to do is grab a USB keyboard with built on touch pad (http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX6424(ME).aspx) and a 19" LCD monitor.

I also picked up a mounting kit for it, but I'm workingon a custom hinge idea, so we'll see how it turns out. I can post pics if anyone wants.

Cool stuff, but that's a bit smaller than I need I'm afraid. I didnt see any 17"+ LCDs in there, but tons of other cool stuff.. I just asked my boss about the 10" touch screen LCDs. ;)
www.dealextreme.com is another cool site, similar in style, but less technology stuff.

never buy from them ever!!! if you are in need of a refund due to their lack of order sorting skills (sending wrong item) or something is faulty, dont expect anything, they are terrible with customer service....
