Switched on my computer 2 days ago, nothing on the screen, using a 8800GTS. Eventually found the signal on the onboard VGA, displaying checksum error. Looked like battery was dead, changed this then reset cmos as according to the manual's instructions but still no 8800gts.

Reinstalled OS (vista64) but still no sign of 8800, the card looks alive, fan spins up. Took out 8800 and tried 8400, no sign of either in the OS but both look alive with fan spinning and as the 8400 takes its power something must be happening at the hardware level.

Opened up cpu-z and can see graphic interface greyed out with no info such as PCI Express width etc in the fields, its as though the board or OS is not seeing the PCI express slot.

Has anyone seen this before?

BIOS 1001 on an M2NBP-VM CSM motherboard.

If you can, update BIOS to latest.

Yup, did that 3 or 4 weeks ago in an attempt to rid myself of a stop101 error I kept having. Currently on the latest BIOS, version 1001

Try reflashing the BIOS just in case.

Check the pins in the PCIe slot, one of them might be messed up, somehow. Or something in the motherboard died.

Looks like the mobo had partly died, replacement on the way.
