On Monday, June 30 Windows XP will no longer be sold in retail markets. You'll still be able to get it online for years to come though

"In related news, Microsoft stock plunged over 20 percent today..."
...What? Not like it'd surprise me.

Hehe, my company has hundreds of XP pro sitting on the shelf. Over half just for one company...

I can't say I'm disappointed with this move. I switched to Vista last year and now hate going back to use XP. Once you learn how to use Vista it's a far superior operating system and looks amazing. So goodbye XP, I won't miss you.

I've used Vista, can't be buggered. it's too bloated, too user-oriented. I like XP... it's more of a platform to work on top of than the full shebang.
Vista is like buying a full-size luxury SUV.
XP is like buying a a frame and then a bunch of parts as you go and making an OS that's tailor-made for your needs.
They both work, just XP does things the way I like it. =/

Omega... with your OS attitude how do you not go Linux... Talk about bare frame OS tailor made to your needs..

I think I will continue to use xp 64, maybe until next year, then I will just have to bite the bullet and upgrade. I might even upgrade before that. I just have to save enough to get a legal upgrade copy.

Because I was raised on Windows OSes and I can't be bothered to learn how to use Linux.
PLUS I like my gaming on it's native OS (not through some emulator) and whatnot.

So I was raised with Mac System 7, then switched to Windows, now I am throwing Linux on everything, especially older hardware. I dual boot Vista and Linux on my laptop, planning to do something similar on my gaming rig desktop. I use Linux for day to day stuff and Windows for gaming or important applications only made for windows like Pro/ENGINEER and other CAD and graphics type stuff I need for my engineering career.

I have Debian AMD 64 on my computer, but I don't use it too often, since almost all of my stuff only runs on windows, and I don't want to bother with WINE.

Sorry for double posting, but I just messed up direct3d, so I think I'm just going to get a new, sealed copy of ultimate from ebay, and upgrade by next week.
