I don't play games. They bore me generally, but I have spent the last week shooting it up in the underworld down at gangstermind.com (http://www.gangstermind.com/?refer=493067)
Anyway I thought I'd write up about the fun i've been having playing the game. It explains my absence from here for the last week :D :D :D The game has a mix of paying (called kingpins) and non paying gamers. As a non paying player you start off each round of the game with 1000 turns and 1000 in reserve. You gain 20 turns every 10 minutes. A round lasts ten days.
You can use turns to attack other gangsters, hire thugs, bodyguards, hitmen and workers. You can trade on the blackmarket.
There is a key strategy when you first log in or you will be dead. The only guns worth having are AK47's and you have enough money that someone else will just come and eat you (although if you sign on during a round such as now you have 24hr protection).
What you do is buy 40,000 AK's when you first log in and trade all your other guns for AK's too. If you don't do this sometimes your bodyguards will use weaker guns. Give them the best! Doing this gives you enough guns to start out with (though you'll need to buy more) and it reduces your cash and net worth so others won't attack you.
You also get rid of any vehicles and planes except one Royal Jet and one cadillac at the start as this also lowers your networth. There is a balance between the number of hoodlums you have and the net worth because you can attack people three times richer but only half as poor as you. And you have to watch that you don't get in the reach of the bigger fish :P
Then use all your turns to scout in the training room for bodyguards and thugs. Some people say if you use twenty six turns a go you get the max returns. I tested it using 300 and the difference wasn't big .... enough that I was going to press 100 turns on several keys when I could do it ten times.
It's important to set your workers payout to 100% when recruiting and then set it back to 0% so that when you are attacking people you get the loot and not your goons.
Once someone has no goons left to defend them you just keep robbing their headquarters like its a cash machine until it's turning out less than about $5 million a hit then you can go rob their cars and planes (you'll need to buy some cars and planes on the black market first to succeed).
There are massive cartels of gangsters some long established. The key as a non paying gamer is to use your turns at the start of each round (which lasts ten days) to recruit thugs and bodyguards in the training room. Find people who have been attacked and then eat whatever wealth they have - as long as they are not in a strong cartel that might come getcha!
You'll end up on day ten - which is when all the action starts - with maybe 380,000 goons to fight your way up with. If you've been slylying robbing people on the way up you'll have some money in the bank too. It's important when you rob planes and cars to sell them on the black market because that raises your cash but drops your net worth. Otherwise you might get too fat and be food for one of the big boys.
There are prizes of free turns for the top ranking gangstersand a cash prize but thats always won by someone who pays money to buy extra turns. It's a real murky world .... and you can't trust anyone out there .... except your friends ... or can you lol
If you clickon the link above and join I get a few free turns as a result but what I would suggest you do is people who want to do it, then post your name in here and then you can all join up in the game and make a cartel so you are protected.
Apparantly the last five hours of the round is where it kicks off, after ten days of jockying for position,everyone puts their game plan into practice and people start having wars and it's complete mayhem. Each game round ends at 1 am UK time which is 8pm New York time, on the tenth day. The next round starts one minute later!
If you are going to play follow the starters guide I have written above and you will have a one month headstart on new players. A new round started Friday night and so there is still time to get in and have some fun if you fancy it.
