Currently it's classified as malware. Well, part of it is.

I have AVG8 Free Edition and haven't had any problems with anything. Spybot hasn't piped up with anything yet but I will keep an eye on it. Thanks crenn.

Spybot won't pick it up, but it's more taxing on websites.

Mmmm, I think I will stay with Version 7.5, and it doesn't affect FF if I have read it right on The Reg, AVG say there is a fix on the way but you have to wonder why they did it?

Its the Link Scanner that scans the links when you visit Google etc for Phishing and scams that is the problem. You can easily disable it in AVG control panel or wait for the fix.

I took AVG off all of my computers and switched to Avast

I never enabled that links scanner thing, bloody annoying.

You won't be able to stay with V7.5 because they are making it redundant, no more security updates. Not upgrading is putting your PC at risk.
