Im a musician, and as such i record a lot of stuff on my computer.
At the moment its a bit all over the place, but im getting a new hard drive specifically for recording purposes, and i would like to copy all my existing music related data across to the new drive.
I must have about 100gigs worth of stuff, and its all very important.
I dont have much faith in the windows file copy tool as i have had problems with it in the past (missing out files, corrupting files etc) so i need a reliable program to copy all the data from one drive to another, then check for consistancy to make sure its all there and none of it has been corrupted.

Anyone know of a good program for such a thing? i was thinking maybe norton ghost or something might do the trick?

Acronis True Image. Here (http://www.acronis.com/) <=-
Everyone should have a backup dupe drive.

Hmm, all i want to do though is copy a chunk of the drive to the new drive, as i will still be working with a lot of the data, i dont just want a backup of the entire disk.
Will acronis be able to do that, or is it limited to straight backup?

Create an exact copy of your PC for a full backup or backup only your important data and application settings — your choice.

if its VERY important you could run a raid 1:) i think thats the one that takes 2 harddrives and clone them.. so if the one go down, you still have the other one with all your stuff on:D

Well in that case install the other drive, and copy it over.
