I originally did this mod back in 05 and at the time did not like the finished product. Here are the original images:

I recently dug this mouse back out and I am currently in the process of remodding/ fixing this. I actually didnt notice the remnants of the red paint until I uploaded the macro's I took with the flash on on the digital. I need to find a new usb cable and replace the logo LED. But here is a prelim of the mouse:

Looks much nicer. It's funny how a decent camera can bring out things you didn't notice. Specks of dirt etc.
Anyway, I quite like that red, it makes it look like it's alive inside, and it's been cut...

Oh, and Welcome to the forums!

The usb cable I need is the 5 pin J1 jumper and the LED on the far left of the board is toast. I have a bunch of blue and red LED's but what I really want is a green led to replace this as I have more planned for this mouse. I have not been able ot find lots of green LED's. I always buy my parts in lots. Does anybody know where i can find either of these parts.

$8 USD at Ledshoppe (http://www.ledshoppe.com/Product/led/LE1014.htm) for 100 green LEDs, 5mm.

Good stuff. Always cool to see an okay mod taken back out and redone into an amazing mod. Good luck modding!

Edit: btw just realized that is the mouse I am using on my computer, I really should spring for a better gaming mouse but still a good mouse. I should mod mine ;)

I got a ton of LEDs from ebay. It was just hard finding somebody with a lot outside of china. You have to wait longer if it's from china, and you never know if you'll get anything with it.

Sweet man thanks. Now if I can find a proper usb cable. Thought about cutting and soldering one of these onhttp://www.cablestogo.com/assets/product_images/28286.jpg but they usually arent that long.

I never used this for gaming... well I did back when I first started but I switched to trackballs and love them right now I am using a logitech trackman but the drawback of that is the ball placement and no scroll wheel I plan to upgrade to this: http://www.fentek-ind.com/mltmw.gif And the only thing I will ever use wireless for is programming and web design. I don't even like using wireless for photoshop its just not precise

You should see if you can find this trackman:

I've had it for about a year now and it works great, plus it has the scroll wheel and is wireless.

I'm not sure where you are, but here's the link to it on Amazon:

I prefer to use my thumb for the trackball and as I mentioned I despise wireless with a passion. Although the wired version of your mouse is pretty nice.
